California Governor Gavin Newsom is trying to build his national name in the Democrat Party by feuding with Ron DeSantis.
This is a decision Newsom will instantly regret.
And that’s because Ron DeSantis eviscerated Gavin Newsom with this devastating new video.
Last year Newsom spent over $100,000 in campaign money running ads claiming freedom was under attack in Florida because Ron DeSantis signed legislation that protected life and stopped teachers from sexualizing children with inappropriate lesson plans about transgenderism and gender identity.
Newsom kept up the fight this year against DeSantis, even traveling to Florida to protest DeSantis installing a new board at New College of Florida, which quickly eliminated Critical Race Theory from the classroom and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion departments.
But Ron DeSantis is a fighter and was not about to let Newsom’s smears go unanswered.
DeSantis began running a video message online promoting a digital postcard mocking Democrat Governors for driving a record migration to Florida because of their failed policies on crime, education, and COVID.
“Dear Democrat Governors, now that your boss in the White House has finally admitted COVID is over, we wanted to send an update on the new Florida residents who fled your disastrous policies since the pandemic began,” the video states. “Without your lockdowns, vaccine mandates and devastating school closures, our new residents have been greatly enjoying the restored freedoms.”
The video even jabbed Democrat Governors like Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer for secretly traveling to Florida to enjoy life with no COVID restrictions while the residents of their own states lived under lockdowns.
“We know you also enjoyed a taste of Florida’s freedom on your own lockdown getaway here,” the video added.
DeSantis’ video also ridiculed Democrats’ support for open borders by offering to fly illegal aliens to blue states where Governors like Newsom profess that diversity and immigration are America’s strengths.
“But unlike you, your former residents are staying for good. Perhaps the millions of illegal migrants you’re encouraging to come across the border can find a new home in your alleged sanctuary,” the video continued. “We’re happy to fly them your way.”
This video showcased what is sure to be the central argument DeSantis will make to Republican primary voters and then the broader electorate if he wins the nomination.
And that is DeSantis’ freedom agenda is a model for the nation and all anyone needs to do is look how residents of blue states voted with their feet by moving to Florida.
