Everyone is trying to get to the bottom of the latest assassination attempt against Donald Trump.
But there are forces at work that want to ensure that it is a whitewash.
And Ron DeSantis had a nasty surprise for the FBI that they are going to hate.
Ron DeSantis green lights state investigation into Trump’s assassination attempt
A supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris waited in a sniper’s nest for former President Donald Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Secret Service agents who were scouting the hole ahead of where Trump was playing discovered him and opened fire.
The gunman fled the scene and was arrested by authorities in Martin County, Florida.
Another assassination attempt against Trump was a reminder that the first investigation in the Butler, Pennsylvania campaign rally where he was shot on July 13 appears to be a whitewash by the Biden-Harris administration.
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), one of the biggest Trump haters in the Senate, told reporters that the Secret Service was stonewalling Congress on evidence for its investigation.
The FBI is heading up the federal government’s investigation into the assassination attempt against Trump at his golf club.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis does not trust the politicized FBI to conduct a thorough and fair investigation.
“In my judgment, it is not in the best interest of our state or nation to have the same federal agencies prosecuting Donald Trump lead this investigation, especially when the most serious offense constitutes a violation of state law, not federal law,” DeSantis said at a news conference in West Palm Beach.
That is why DeSantis signed an executive order authorizing a state investigation into the Trump assassination attempt.
Warning signs flashing red about FBI
Federal prosecutors are charging the would-be assassin with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a gun with an obliterated serial number.
DeSantis said that Florida could charge him with the more serious crime of attempted murder.
“I have directed our state agencies to move expeditiously and to provide full transparency to the public,” DeSantis stated. “There will be accountability in Florida. The people of our state, and the entire country, deserve no less.”
Attorney General Ashley Moody will oversee the prosecution, and the Florida Highway Patrol and Florida Department of Law Enforcement will lead the investigation.
DeSantis said that Florida’s parallel investigation will provide the public with transparency.
“What the state does is going to be made public,” DeSantis explained. “I mean, you guys know who are from Florida, you can FOIA a lot of the stuff that’s done in these investigations under Florida sunshine laws. And then they have a charge to be very frank and exercise candor with the public. I want the information to get out. I do not want any of the information kept under wraps.”
And the need for a parallel investigation is even more important because of the agent in charge of the FBI’s investigation.
FBI Miami Field Office head Jeffrey Veltri had a whistleblower out him as “vocally anti-Trump” last year.
He was ordered to scrub his social media of anti-Trump posts to get promoted to the head of the Miami field office by FBI Director Christopher Wray.
Florida’s investigation could be the only chance to discover the truth about the latest assassination attempt against Donald Trump.
