Following a break in the campaign trail to prepare Florida for hurricane Idalia, DeSantis is back at it.
The Governor is hard at work trying to catch up to Trump in the polls and in fundraising numbers.
And Ron DeSantis has a busy day planned in this key swing state.
Pennsylvania holds their Presidential Primary relatively late, but will be key in the General Election.
Donald Trump won the state in 2016, but then lost it to Joe Biden in 2020.
Polls show Trump losing the state again in a rematch, while they show DeSantis beating Biden in the state.
What popularity the former President once held in the Keystone State is gone now, with 64% of registered voters viewing him unfavorably.
Pennsylvania is also the home of a number of high-dollar Republican donors.
The state ranks 5th in total fundraising for both the DeSantis and Trump campaigns.
DeSantis is looking to expand his war chest by holding three fundraisers on the same day in Pennsylvania.
DeSantis still has some work to do to catch up to Trump in the fundraising department. DeSantis has so far raised $20 million, while Trump has raised $36 million.
DeSantis has also enjoyed the support of the Super PAC Never Back Down, which has raised $48 million.
Of course, Trump had a much earlier start, and DeSantis has raised an impressive amount in a short amount of time.
Following the first GOP debate, DeSantis saw a surge in donations and reported over $1 million in donations the following day.
DeSantis hopes to appeal to Pennsylvania Republican donors that support Trump’s policies, but see the former President as unelectable in 2024.
Guy Ciarrocchi, the host of one of the fundraisers said, “There are a lot of primary-voting Republicans who voted for President Trump in 2016 or 2020 who are going to vote for someone else. They’re ready to move forward, and they’re interested in winning.”
Former Congressman Lou Barletta, who is hosting another event said, “He’s the best chance of beating any Democrat, including Joe Biden.”
