Ron DeSantis has filled out a lot of paperwork as Governor.
He spent the past week signing a slew of pro-freedom bills into law.
But Ron DeSantis is about to file the most important piece of paperwork in his entire political career.
The anticipation surrounding Ron DeSantis’ plans for 2024 is sky high.
For the most part, DeSantis has kept his plans close to his chest, choosing instead to focus on getting his agenda through the state legislature.
But DeSantis has been running what many consider a “shadow campaign” for the past few months.
DeSantis released his memoir and embarked on a book-signing tour where he visited important GOP Primary states like Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
During each stop, DeSantis attended GOP events and headlined fundraisers for the local Republican Party.
When asked about his plans for 2024, DeSantis told reporters that his only focus was the current legislative session.
But the legislature recently adjourned.
And according to multiple news outlets, inside sources claim DeSantis is planning to file paperwork next week with the Federal Election Commission.
“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to enter the 2024 GOP presidential race next week, two Republicans familiar with the matter told CNN, initiating his much-anticipated bid to wrestle the future of the party from former President Donald Trump,” CNN reported. “DeSantis will file paperwork declaring his candidacy next week with the Federal Election Commission, one Republican said, with a formal announcement expected the following week in his Florida hometown of Dunedin.”
DeSantis is holding a meeting next Wednesday and Thursday in Miami with his top financial backers.
“About 100 hotel rooms have been reserved at the Four Seasons in Miami, which will host receptions for donors, briefings with DeSantis’ political team and sessions where attendees will dial for dollars, according to two sources familiar with the details,” CNN reported. “The goal is for each fundraiser to bring in between $100,000 and $150,000.”
DeSantis’ Press Secretary also left his office this week for a position on the Governor’s campaign team, which many took as another clear sign of a looming announcement.
Not only that, but his political operation is moving into another location on Monday, triggering disclosure requirements for federal officials.
DeSantis will have 15 days to file the paperwork with the FEC once the office move takes place.
