Democrats have spent years slowly chipping away at the American people’s Second Amendment freedoms.
But Joe Biden and the Democrats have a new plan to target gun owners.
And Ron DeSantis is about to throw cold water on Joe Biden’s scheme to track and monitor gun owners in Florida.
The radical Left is now recruiting major credit card companies to help them wage war on the right to keep and bear arms.
The International Organization for Standardization previously created a new merchant category code for the sole purpose of flagging sales of firearms and ammunition.
Firearm transactions at gun stores have always been labeled in the “general merchandise” category.
But in 2022, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express announced plans for a new sales code to flag firearm purchases at gun stores.
“The move by Visa signals a major victory for gun control advocates who argue that a separate category for gun store sales will help track suspicious quantities of firearm sales that could potentially lead to a mass shooting,” the New York Post reported at the time.
However, led by Ron DeSantis, Republicans in the State Legislature just passed a bill to prevent credit card companies from flagging firearm purchases with a special code.
The Florida Arms and Ammo Act passed the State Legislature on Monday and is headed to Ron DeSantis’ desk for his signature.
House sponsor John Snyder said it was wrong to single out firearm purchases with a special code.
“Categorizing the constitutionally protected right to purchase firearms unfairly singles out law-abiding merchants and consumers,” Snyder said.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Silton Simpson cheered passage of the legislation as a victory against a “backdoor way of trying to intimidate gun owners.”
“The ‘Florida Arms and Ammo Act’ draws a line in the sand and tells progressive financial institutions that they cannot covertly track, monitor, and report data on Floridians exercising their constitutionally protected Second Amendment rights,” Simpson said.
If signed into law, credit card companies will be prohibited from using a merchant category code specifically for firearms and ammunition on transactions.
Any company caught violating the law is subject to up to $10,000 in fines.
From outright gun bans to more restrictions and regulations, Joe Biden and the Democrats are ratcheting up their war on law-abiding gun owners.
But Ron DeSantis is fighting back.
He recently signed Constitutional Carry into law and is expected to sign the Florida Arms and Ammo Act into law any day now.
As long as DeSantis is Governor, Florida gun owners can rest well at night knowing their Second Amendment freedoms are safe.
