Disney picked up a new ally in its fight with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Conservatives are furious.
And Ron DeSantis is under attack as this RINO did the unthinkable and sided with Disney.
RINO former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson may be the only person in America who thinks he will be the next President of the United States.
Establishment figures like Hutchinson still think it’s 2005 where the Bush version of the GOP still holds purchase in the Republican Party.
Hutchinson’s delusions were on full display in an interview with CNN where Hutchinson decried Governor DeSantis for “punishing” Disney after Disney tried to force its woke politics on the state government.
Disney and DeSantis are now locked in a court battle over legislation DeSantis signed stripping Disney of its special privileges to act as its own self-government in the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
Over the last ten years, companies like Disney grew more aggressive in trampling red state values in the culture war.
Republican Governors and elected officials just sat there and took it because of their adherence to so-called “free market principles.”
But the free market at work does not include companies cutting special deals with governments for favorable regulations that benefit only them, tax breaks, and privileges not available to everyone else.
The deal Disney cut with the state of Florida for the last 50 plus years was really corporatism in action.
Ron DeSantis stepped in to end the practice of government picking winners and losers based on the business being able to flex its muscles and lobby the government for carve outs.
Disney was not the only woke business that learned it was a new day in Florida.
Governor DeSantis also axed $35 million in taxpayer money to improve the Tampa Bay Rays spring training complex.
DeSantis – who is against taxpayer money for sports teams – also took issue with the Major League Baseball franchise pressuring Florida legislators to ban and confiscate firearms.
Companies in Florida can no longer do the bidding of the Left in culture war fights and expect the state’s Republican government to bend over backwards to accommodate them with special favors and sweetheart deals.
RINOs like Asa Hutchinson simply no longer realize what time it is and are showing they’re out of step with the conservative base.
