Ron DeSantis is a rock star in the Republican Party.
He is the most popular Republican elected official in America.
And now Ron DeSantis just announced a fundraiser that many view as a sign he is running for President.
Ron DeSantis gained national attention during the pandemic for his pro-freedom policies.
DeSantis refused to shut down businesses and schools in Florida, while also leading the charge against masks and vaccine mandates.
But when the pandemic came to a close, DeSantis stayed in the national spotlight by aggressively fighting against the Left’s woke agenda in the Sunshine State.
DeSantis banned Critical Race Theory in Florida’s classrooms, gave parents the ability to sue school districts who violated the law and taught the woke agenda, and also signed a bill prohibiting the teaching of gender and sexuality to children in kindergarten through third grade.
And on the issue of election integrity, which voters list as a top concern in 2022, DeSantis signed legislation strengthening voter ID laws and enhancing election security efforts.
As a result of his willingness to fight the Left on important issues, DeSantis is now a rock star among GOP voters nationwide.
Polls consistently show that if Donald Trump decides not to run for President in 2024, Ron DeSantis would be the clear frontrunner to win the GOP nomination.
However, Ron DeSantis maintains his position that his only focus is on serving the people of Florida and getting elected to another term in November.
Right now, polls show DeSantis is headed to an easy victory in November, with him defeating all of his potential Democrat opponents by double digits in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup.
But even though DeSantis says he is only focused on his re-election, he is making steps that have many see as positioning himself for a potential White House bid in 2024.
DeSantis recently traveled outside of Florida to campaign for a Trump-backed U.S. Senate candidate in Nevada.
And now DeSantis is traveling to South Carolina for a fundraiser, leading to even more speculation that he is laying the groundwork to run for President in 2024.
Known as the “First in the South,” South Carolina has a robust history of picking GOP Presidential nominees over the years.
The State reported:
A small group of influential South Carolina Republican donors who want to see Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis get reelected this year are planning to host a fundraiser for the popular national GOP figure in Charleston later this week, according to a source close to the governor.
The source, who spoke to The State newspaper Monday on the condition of anonymity so that they could speak freely about the exclusive event, confirmed the fundraiser will be held Thursday evening at a private residence in the Charleston area.
According to a source close to the Governor’s campaign, DeSantis is traveling to Charleston solely for the purpose of raising money for his re-election campaign.
The source told The State that it has nothing to do with “a hypothetical 2024 Presidential bid.”
But with DeSantis growing in popularity, and with him now traveling outside of his own state to campaign and to fundraise, the speculation that he is running for President will only increase even more.
