Ron DeSantis is a man of his word.
He’s known for making good on his promises.
And Ron DeSantis just delivered on one major promise his critics claimed would never happen.
Whether you like Ron DeSantis or not, there is one undeniable fact about the Florida Governor.
He’s a man of his word.
Even in the face of nasty attacks and smears, DeSantis doesn’t waver.
During his State of the State Address, DeSantis promised to make 2022 the “Year of the Parent” in Florida.
DeSantis delivered on that promise when he removed Critical Race Theory from Florida’s curriculum and gave parents the ability to sue school districts who violated this law.
DeSantis also signed the Parental Rights in Education Bill into law, which prohibits the teaching of gender and sexuality to children in kindergarten through third grade.
But on Thursday, Ron DeSantis made good on another major promise his critics were certain he would fail to deliver on.
The state of Florida is currently facing a potential crisis in the property-insurance market.
Ron DeSantis ordered a special session of the legislature to pass “the most significant reforms that we’ve seen with Florida’s property insurance in decades.”
DeSantis’ critics in the press mocked his promise, calling it an impossible task to handle in such a short amount of time.
However, as usual, DeSantis made good on his promise, and on Thursday signed major property insurance reforms into law in Florida.
The Capitolist reported, “The Florida Legislature reconvened at the Capitol this week to provide relief to homeowners battling skyrocketing insurance costs. Florida lawmakers, during a three-day special session, passed legislation (SB 2B) to alleviate rising insurance costs, increase insurance claim transparency and crack down on frivolous lawsuits.”
They went on to note, “Lawmakers also agreed to set aside $2 billion in tax dollars to provide another ‘layer’ of reinsurance to insurers that otherwise might not be able to buy it in the private market.”
This is a major victory for Ron DeSantis, as the bill received bipartisan support in both the State House and Senate.
“This package represents the most significant reforms to Florida’s homeowners insurance market in a generation,” DeSantis said in a prepared statement. “These bills will help stabilize a problematic market, help Floridians harden their homes through the My Safe Florida Home Program, and pave the way for more choices for homeowners.”
Ron DeSantis had already proven his willingness to stand up and fight against the radical Left on the critical issues facing voters.
And now DeSantis showed he has the ability to also bring Republicans and Democrats together to help tackle problems facing Floridians.
