Ron DeSantis understands what the radical Left refuses to admit.
The Florida governor isn't backing down from teaching the truth.
And Ron DeSantis just delivered two words that will have Democrats seeing red.
DeSantis commemorates victims at Miami's Freedom Tower
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stood inside Miami's historic Freedom Tower on November 7 and did something that makes progressives absolutely furious.
He told the truth about communism.
The Freedom Tower served as a processing center in the 1960s and '70s for Cuban refugees fleeing Fidel Castro's brutal dictatorship.
Now it's ground zero for DeSantis's fight to make sure American students learn what the left desperately wants to hide.
"We remember those who demonstrated courage, made sacrifices and endured hardship while fighting for freedom and against communism," DeSantis told the crowd of state officials and more than 250 Miami-Dade County public school students.¹

These weren't just empty words from a politician looking for applause.
DeSantis has people in the room who lived through communist hell firsthand – survivors who watched their families torn apart, their property seized, their freedom destroyed.
"We have people in this room who have firsthand experience with communism," DeSantis stated.²
The governor touted the newly-established Institute for Freedom in the Americas at Miami Dade College, which owns and operates the Freedom Tower.
It's a partnership with the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom at Florida International University designed to promote economic and individual freedoms.
But here's what has the left losing their minds.
Florida schools will teach students the truth about communism
DeSantis signed legislation three years ago designating November 7 as "Victims of Communism Day."

That date marks the start of Russia's Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 – the beginning of a nightmare that would kill over 100 million people worldwide.
Florida is the first and only state in the nation to recognize this day.
Now DeSantis is taking it further with Senate Bill 1254, which takes effect in 2026.
Florida schools will provide 45 minutes of classroom instruction each year on the dangers of communist ideology.
Students will learn about Vladimir Lenin and the Russian Revolution, Joseph Stalin and the Soviet Union, Mao Zedong's "Great Leap Forward," and Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution.
They'll study the regimes of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela – the socialist disaster that turned South America's wealthiest nation into a hellscape where people eat zoo animals to survive.
And here's the part that really terrifies Democrats: the curriculum will include examples of domestic communist movements and tactics.
That means students will learn to recognize Marxist ideology when they see it pushed in America today.
"We must ensure the students learn the lessons of history, recognize the destructiveness of Marxism-Leninism, and appreciate the founding principles of the American republic," DeSantis explained.³
DeSantis protects Freedom Tower as Democrats push revisionist history
Miami Dade School Board Member Roberto J. Alonso said the day was "deeply personal" to him as the son of Cuban immigrants who came to the U.S. as part of Operation Pedro Pan.
"This building isn't just a landmark; it's a living symbol of hope," Alonso said. "Families like mine walked through these doors seeking freedom and opportunity."⁴
Most arrived with only empty suitcases and the clothes on their backs.
Communist governments had stolen everything else.
Alonso emphasized that education is one of the few things "no one can strip from you," encouraging students to think critically and independently about governing bodies.
"Remembrance means little if it does not motivate us to defend liberty, strengthen human rights, and build institutions that protect dignity," he stated.⁵

DeSantis reaffirmed his commitment to preserve the Freedom Tower – often called "the Ellis Island of the South" – as a national landmark.
"South Florida understands these dangers instinctively," DeSantis noted, pointing out that the region has long been a refuge for exiles from Eastern Europe, Cuba, and Latin America.⁶
The ceremony concluded with applause for exiles and a presentation of challenge coins to select attendees.
"People need hope," DeSantis said. "The U.S. will always be a beacon for those escaping tyranny."⁷
Democrats hate this because it works
Here's why progressives are melting down over DeSantis's anti-communist curriculum.
For decades, the left has worked to sanitize communism's blood-soaked history in American schools.
They've rebranded Marxism as "social justice" and "equity."
They've convinced a generation of students that socialism is just European-style healthcare and free college.
They've buried the truth about the Holodomor, the Killing Fields, the Great Leap Forward, and the countless other communist atrocities.
DeSantis is blowing up that entire narrative.
Students in Florida will learn that communism isn't some noble idea corrupted by bad leaders.
They'll understand it's an evil ideology that always ends the same way – with mass graves and secret police.

"Freedom is never guaranteed," Alonso warned. "It must be fought for, protected, and passed on to future generations."⁸
Democrats can't allow that message to spread.
If students learn to recognize Marxist tactics when progressives use them, the entire leftist project collapses.
That's why teaching the truth about communism matters more than ever.
DeSantis isn't just commemorating victims – he's inoculating the next generation against the poison that killed over 100 million people in the 20th century.
And judging by the left's hysterical reaction, it's working.
