Democrats want to turn Florida Governor Ron DeSantis into a Donald Trump-like bogeyman.
But Democrats got some bad news.
And that’s because Ron DeSantis just did one thing that made every Democrat in America nervous.
Joe Biden spent all of 2021 trying to tear down Ron DeSantis, smearing DeSantis as a sociopath and a killer for rejecting lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine requirements.
DeSantis won that argument as the science showed lockdowns, masks, and vaccines did nothing to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Now as the Midterm election campaign enters its final weeks Ron DeSantis is the dominant figure in multiple media stories.
First, DeSantis seized the spotlight by flying 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard and focused attention on Joe Biden’s failure to secure the southern border as nearly 5,000,000 illegal aliens entered America on Biden’s watch.
Then – despite the media hoping for Biblical levels of death and destruction from Hurricane Ian – DeSantis capably managed the state’s preparations for the storm and presented a calm and capable face as Florida began to recover and rebuild.
Even Democrat and Never-Trump strategists opposed to the Governor were forced to admit DeSantis commanded the spotlight.
“In politics, you want visibility almost more than anything else,” one Democratic strategist admitted to The Hill about DeSantis’ role in the immigration and hurricane response stories. “And it’s safe to say he’s gotten that visibility more than almost any national figure these days.”
Democrats were forced to acknowledge that Ron DeSantis raised his name recognition with the broader public in good ways.
“People know who he is,” the Democrat strategist begrudgingly admitted. “That’s the sweet spot.”
Never-Trump RINO and former Paul Ryan aide Brendan Buck also complimented DeSantis on his response to Hurricane Ian.
“It’s a chance for him to show people that he’s not just someone on Fox News fighting a culture war,” Buck stated. “He is actually an intelligent politician who understands the role of government.”
“It demonstrates broadly that you can have everything you like about Donald Trump and still a competent government,” Buck added.
The corporate-controlled press was hoping either Latino voters would turn against DeSantis over the illegal alien flights or that the media could manufacture a Katrina-like moment in the wake of Ian.
Both of those dreams crashed and burned as DeSantis deftly navigated the stormy political waters.
