Ron DeSantis just picked up one endorsement that could be a game changer in Iowa

The 2024 GOP Presidential Primary kicks off on January 15 with the Iowa Caucuses.

Winning Iowa is the number-one goal for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

And Ron DeSantis just picked up one endorsement that could be a game changer in Iowa.

Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Doug Burgum, Francis Suarez, Larry Elder, and other 2024 Republican Presidential Primary hopefuls descended on Iowa over the weekend for the annual State Fair in Des Moines.

A recent New York Times poll found Donald Trump leading Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by 44% to 20% in Iowa.

However, as part of his recent campaign reboot, DeSantis is now placing all of his chips on winning the Iowa Caucuses.

So while most candidates flew in on Saturday, DeSantis traveled to Iowa a few days early in order to meet with voters across the state on Thursday and Friday.

On Friday, DeSantis appeared for an in-studio interview with popular Iowa conservative talk radio host Steve Deace.

During the interview, DeSantis called for “a new birth of freedom,” which begins with “declaring economic independence from the Chinese Communist Party”, tossing out President Joe Biden’s regulations, and securing the border.

He also vowed to “take on the woke agenda,” “restore the military to Mission First,” and “bring a reckoning for the COVID-19 policies.”

DeSantis apparently impressed host Steve Deace enough to earn his enthusiastic endorsement during the show.

“I want to see what happened in your state happen everywhere else,” Deace said. “And that’s why I’m endorsing you for President.”

DeSantis posted a photo with Deace on X and wrote that “I’m honored to receive the endorsement from the great @SteveDeaceShow. Like so many Iowans, Steve knows the time for excuses is over. We will get the job done in 2024!”

Deace shared the original post from DeSantis and added his own comments.

“Thank you @RonDeSantis for earning my support, by proving in the field of battle you are the strongest leader in this race for my kids, and they desperately need a strong America,” Deace wrote. “It is time to not just market and message MAGA — but to actually do the MAGA,” he continued, before adding that “2024 is a must win.”

DeSantis’ campaign issued a press release pointing out that Deace is known as an “Iowa Kingmaker” after he endorsed 2008 caucus winner Mike Huckabee and 2016 caucus winner Ted Cruz.

Steve Deace’s endorsement serves as a momentum boost for DeSantis at a time when his campaign needs it the most.
