Ron DeSantis declared war on the woke ideology in the Sunshine State.
From elementary schools all the way up to the college board, DeSantis is rooting out left-wing ideologues and woke teachers.
And Ron DeSantis just put the woke Left on notice that he means business with these five appointments.
Ron DeSantis took a sledgehammer to the Left’s woke ideology over the past two years.
After promising to make Florida “where woke goes to die,” DeSantis banned teaching Critical Race Theory, put an end to biological males competing in women’s sports, and prohibited grooming young children with the woke gender ideology.
But DeSantis also went after the woke leftists who dominate higher education in America.
In January, DeSantis replaced six of the 13 members on New College in Sarasota’s Board of Trustees, fired the college’s President, and appointed former Florida Department of Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran as the new head.
Now DeSantis is shaking up things at Florida Polytechnic University.
The Florida legislature established Florida Poly in 2012 under the direction of then-Senator and Chair of the Budget Committee J.D. Alexander.
Over the years, Florida Poly turned into a destination for students looking to pursue higher education in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
In 2024, U.S. News & World Report ranked Florida Poly as the number-one public school in the South among regional colleges and the number-two public school in the South in terms of value.
It also ranked Florida Poly as one of America’s top engineering programs without a Ph.D. option.
On Tuesday, DeSantis announced five new appointees to the Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees.
DeSantis announced the appointments of Dorian Abbot, David Clark, Clifford Otto, Ilya Shapiro, and Sidney Theis to the Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees.
“Gov. Ron DeSantis’ appointments Tuesday to Florida Polytechnic University’s leadership board include two outspoken critics of campus diversity programs, one of whom is a fellow at the same right-leaning think tank as New College of Florida trustee Christopher Rufo,” Axios reported.
Leftists are having a meltdown over the fact that Ron DeSantis appointed members who share his opposition to indoctrinating students into the woke ideology.
DeSantis promised to bring an end to wokeness in the Sunshine State.
And so far he is making good and delivering on that promise.
