Joe Biden’s border crisis has spiraled out of control.

Florida decided to take matters into its own hands.

And Ron DeSantis just shocked Democrats with one immigration move that has patriots cheering.

Florida troopers now empowered to enforce immigration law independently

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just delivered a major blow to the Biden administration’s weak immigration policies by announcing that over 100 Florida Highway Patrol troopers have been sworn in as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals.

This unprecedented move grants Florida troopers the authority to enforce immigration laws without waiting for federal agents to show up.

“These guys can do operations, get illegals, and they can do everything an immigration officer could do, up until the point they get processed for removal,” DeSantis declared during a press conference in Tampa.

The move effectively cuts out the middleman, eliminating the need for troopers to wait hours for ICE agents to respond to roadside stops involving suspected illegal aliens.

“We now have troopers in all 67 counties of this great state that have that authority,” Dave Kerner, the executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety, said. “The only troopers that do not have that authority are the men and women that are on military leave or out on sick leave.”

Florida leading the nation in border security

Florida is setting the standard for states taking control of their own immigration enforcement.

The Sunshine State now has more deputized state law enforcement officers under 287(g) task force deputizations than any other state in America.

Master Sgt. Joshua Malloy, who heads up the Troop-C Criminal Interdiction Unit for the FHP, said this development represents a major breakthrough and predicted other states would follow Florida’s example.

“The Florida Highway Patrol is the first and only agency in the nation to be delegated these powers, although hundreds of agencies will soon follow and be delegated these important authorities,” Malloy stated.

DeSantis ready to take immigration enforcement even further

Not content with these already groundbreaking measures, Governor DeSantis revealed that Florida has submitted a comprehensive plan to the federal government that would significantly expand the state’s role in immigration enforcement.

“Florida has led the nation on immigration enforcement, and we’re ready to do even more,” DeSantis announced. “We’ve submitted a plan to the federal government to contribute new detention facilities and expanded apprehension efforts to their ongoing mission to reclaim America’s sovereignty.”

The plan includes a proposal to help expedite immigration legal processing by deputizing Florida National Guard JAGs as immigration judges.

Larry Keefe, executive director of the State Board of Immigration Enforcement, showcased the state’s Immigration Enforcement Operations Plan, a 37-page “Florida blueprint” that he described as a “prototype” for other states to follow.

This ambitious initiative follows the highly successful Operation Tidal Wave last month, a state-federal partnership that resulted in the detention of more than 1,000 migrants in Florida in less than a week.

“We were told Tidal Wave was so successful and the trend or pattern for the state of Florida. What we are doing is such that is the new normal,” Keefe explained.

Taking matters into their own hands

Under the old system, Florida troopers who encountered suspected illegal immigrants during traffic stops were forced to call ICE and often wait for hours by the roadside for federal agents to respond.

Frequently, ICE agents were unavailable, forcing troopers to release the suspects.

With the new authority granted under 287(g) and as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals, Florida troopers can now detain individuals, contact ICE, and transport them directly to processing facilities themselves.

DeSantis pointed to his state’s expertise in disaster response to highlight Florida’s capabilities in handling immigration enforcement.

“Honestly, it’s probably easier to fly someone to South America than it is to Martha’s Vineyard,” DeSantis quipped, referencing his previous migrant relocation efforts. “This can be soup to nuts for us. We want to be in the fight. We want to help.”

Governor DeSantis is showing what real leadership looks like by taking decisive action to protect Florida’s communities from illegal immigration.
