Ron DeSantis just slammed Donald Trump’s Iran nuclear deal with this one stark warning

Jun 2, 2025

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dropped a bombshell critique of President Donald Trump’s efforts to negotiate with Iran.

DeSantis is concerned that any nuclear agreement with the Islamic regime could lead to catastrophic consequences.

And Ron DeSantis just slammed Donald Trump’s Iran nuclear deal with this one stark warning.

The outspoken governor didn’t mince words when he called Trump’s diplomatic overtures “hazardous” during a recent interview with conservative radio host Mark Levin.

But what DeSantis said next left many wondering if there’s a growing rift between two of the Republican Party’s biggest names.

“I don’t see them as being good faith actors and in any way, shape or form. And the reality is they cannot be allowed to enrich uranium, period. End of story,” DeSantis told Levin, drawing a clear line in the sand against Trump’s negotiation efforts.

The Florida governor, who has long positioned himself as one of America’s most vocal defenders of Israel, went even further with a stark assessment of Iran’s leadership that stood in direct contrast to Trump’s diplomatic approach.

“They are a militant Islamic government. Their view of mutual destruction with nuclear weapons is actually something they think would be fine because they think they’re all going to go to heaven in paradise if that happens,” DeSantis fired back.

The timing couldn’t be worse.

Trump’s been working behind the scenes on a new nuclear deal with Iran.

He even sent a personal letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei saying he wants a deal “very soon.”

Trump’s sudden push for talking with Iran has put him at odds with Netanyahu, who’s been itching to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites.

Trump confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that he warned Netanyahu against attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“I told [Benjamin Netanyahu] this would be very inappropriate to do right now because we’re very close to a solution,” Trump stated.

During a recent Middle East tour, Trump secured promises from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates to oppose military strikes against Iran’s nuclear program.

These Gulf nations fear they would face immediate retaliation from Iran, particularly since they host American military bases.

DeSantis highlighted what he sees as a fundamental misunderstanding of Iran’s motives, comparing them to the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

“Unlike the Soviet Union, which believed a nuclear war was ‘not very appealing,’ Iran’s leaders feel that such an exchange with Israel could be ‘doing the will of Allah,'” the governor warned.

This assessment contradicts statements made by Trump’s own Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who told the Senate Intelligence Committee in March that Iran “is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003.”

The disagreement over Iran policy reflects broader questions about Trump’s foreign policy approach in his second term, particularly regarding America’s relationship with Israel.

DeSantis emphasized Israel’s importance to Western civilization, stating, “You could trace back the history of Western civilization all the way back to the ancient state of Israel and the birth of both Judaism and Christianity, and we wouldn’t have the United States of America if it didn’t trace back to that.”

The clash between these Republican big shots comes as Trump tears up the foreign policy playbook.

He’s hunting for deals in the Middle East while getting blasted by defense hawks who used to be his biggest cheerleaders.

The Middle East powder keg is already smoking after Gaza and Lebanon.

Now DeSantis is waving red flags about Iran’s nuclear ambitions, hammering home that these guys can’t be trusted with even a speck of uranium.

Will Trump’s gamble on talking with Iran pay off, or will DeSantis be proven right that you can’t shake hands with the devil?

The verdict’s still out.
