Republicans question First Lady’s nonprofit as tensions boil over
Florida’s Governor just escalated his feud with Republican state lawmakers to an entirely new level, and it is all about his wife Casey DeSantis’s nonprofit organization.
During what was supposed to be a routine press conference in Pensacola announcing campus resources for students, DeSantis instead unloaded on Republican lawmakers in the Florida House who have raised questions about a $10 million donation to his wife’s “Hope Florida” nonprofit.
“They are behaving more like democrats. They are colluding with the left,” Governor Ron DeSantis fired off during the tense press conference.
The Governor did not stop there. He accused Republican lawmakers of neglecting their duties to Florida citizens while pursuing a political vendetta against his family.
“They’re not cutting your property taxes, they’re not fixing the condo crisis, they’re not doing the things that voters want them to do, make no mistake about that. They are stabbing you in the back,” DeSantis fumed.

“In recent weeks, the public reporting has made evident that mistakes were made. There are lapses in reporting procedures. The foundation was not provided with the staffing support necessary to ensure all matters were being quickly and appropriately handled,” Hay confessed.
The admission came after it was revealed that the nonprofit failed to file required tax documents, raising further questions about its operations.
DeSantis drops bombshell hint about Casey’s political future
In perhaps the most stunning moment of the press conference, Governor DeSantis suggested the attacks against his wife’s nonprofit were politically motivated by fears she might run to succeed him as Governor in 2026.
“Look, some people feel threatened by the first lady. Let’s just be clear about that,” DeSantis declared. “You saw her up here. You know, if you’re looking at, you know, like 2026, and you’ve got, you know, some horse, you don’t want her anywhere near that.”
The Governor’s comments unleashed immediate speculation that Casey DeSantis is planning a run for the Governor’s mansion when his term expires.
“You’re very worried because she runs circles around their people. Everybody knows that,” DeSantis added, seemingly confirming his wife’s political ambitions.
