Ron DeSantis made one 2024 move that started the countdown Trump fears

May 17, 2023

Many Republicans were hoping Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would run for President in 2024.

That day is nearly here.

And Ron DeSantis made one big move that means his Presidential campaign is imminent.

On May 15, DeSantis moved his political operation out of the Republican Party of Florida headquarters to Tallahassee.

That move will trigger spending limits for DeSantis’ exploratory committee, meaning DeSantis has a matter of weeks to file paperwork to make his Presidential campaign official.

NBC News reports:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political operation on Monday is moving out of the Republican Party of Florida headquarters, where it has been housed since the end of the 2022 midterms. NBC News first reported the office move was coming last Friday, signaling DeSantis moving toward a presidential campaign, and moving trucks were spotted outside of the Florida GOP building throughout the day Monday.

The move comes ahead of an expected presidential campaign launch in the coming weeks. Such a move will require the expenditure of federal funds in excess of $5,000, which starts the countdown for DeSantis to formally file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission signaling his intention to run for president.

In a back and forth with reporters that day, DeSantis stuck to the message he plans to take to GOP voters, which is that the GOP needs to move past a “culture of losing” and nominate candidates that can win general elections.

“And for me, it’s like, okay, what’s that true north, you’ve obviously got to win otherwise you do not get a ticket to the dance,” DeSantis declared. “But once you do that, how are you going to be able to actually bring about big change to make people’s lives better.”

Republicans suffered through disappointing election cycles in 2018, 2020, and 2022, which DeSantis blames on Donald Trump.

Polls show DeSantis trailing Trump both nationally and in key states like Iowa and even Florida by double digits.

If DeSantis is going to get back into the race and win the nomination, the message that DeSantis is the conservative who can win and deliver results must take hold.

DeSantis’ Super PAC secured over $100 million in commitments and DeSantis political operation has $86 million sitting around from the Governor’s reelection campaign meaning
DeSantis will be flush with cash to communicate his message to the voters.

DeSantis has been more aggressive in recent weeks going after Trump, and once DeSantis officially declares for President – which should be in the very near future – the gloves will officially come off.
