Ron DeSantis made one big promise that left Donald Trump shaking his head

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is in the midst of a campaign reboot.

Trailing in the polls, DeSantis needs a game-changing event to shake up the race.

And Ron DeSantis made one big promise that left Donald Trump shaking his head.

DeSantis is trying to appease his donors and arrest the drop in his poll numbers by pivoting away from culture war and social issues to an economic focused message.

The economy is the number one issue and polls show Republican voters are lukewarm towards a war on woke.

As part of the economic pivot DeSantis released an op-ed in USA Today laying out his vision to end the “Bidenonmics” assault on the middle class.

DeSantis’ op-ed was standard conservative economic fare that did not differentiate much from what Donald Trump did as President or proposed for a second term.

As part of his economic plan DeSantis pledged a massive tax and regulatory cut as well as ending Biden’s war on domestic energy.

“We will do so by advancing an ambitious tax and regulatory reform agenda to unleash American production, increase productivity and growth, and support our families, workers and small businesses, all while lowering inflation,” DeSantis wrote.

“We will unleash our domestic energy sector, modernize and protect our power grid and advance American energy independence, thereby increasing our economic and national security, reducing inflation and fueling a manufacturing renaissance that will create jobs, revitalize our communities and improve our standard of living,” DeSantis added.

DeSantis also pledged to defund woke diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in the federal government as well as supporting school choice, which allows working-class Americans access to topflight schools.

“In addition to disbanding diversity, equity and inclusion programs, we will reform our education system and lower barriers to entry for working-class Americans, support school choice nationwide, protect parental rights, and steer funding toward programs and institutions that support the jobs of the future,” DeSantis continued.

DeSantis also echoed Donald Trump’s immigration policies and promised to continue the Trump policy of restricting immigration to create a tight labor market that will raise wages for middle class Americans.

“I will create a fair labor market by securing the border, enforcing our laws, eliminating chain migration and the diversity visa lottery, and limiting low-skill immigration,” DeSantis declared.

Two signature Trump issues that DeSantis avoided were tariffs and renegotiating trade deals.

Republican donors oppose Trump on those issues and DeSantis laid out his plan to confront Communist China without mentioning the tariffs Trump slapped on Chinese goods.

And when DeSantis described his plans to boost the quality of life for working-class Americans, DeSantis did not touch on the globalist trade deals that shipped jobs overseas.

While DeSantis echoed much of Donald Trump’s economic message, there are still significant points of disagreement and debate.
