Ron DeSantis is a champion for the lives of the unborn.

Now he is building a system to support expecting parents

And Ron DeSantis made one bold move to defend life that left Democrats seething with rage.

Ron DeSantis signs bills to give more resources to pregnant mothers

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has made protecting the lives of the unborn one of the top priorities of his administration.

He signed into law a ban on abortion after 15 weeks and followed that up with a heartbeat bill that banned it after six weeks.

Now he is giving expecting mothers resources to make it easier for them to choose life.

DeSantis signed HB 415 which directs the Florida Department of Health to create an online hub of information on crisis pregnancy centers, adoption services, prenatal care, maternal health, and other resources.

The website will also connect future fathers with mentorship programs.

Expecting parents will have the information available to them in one place that will help them.

State Representative Berny Jacques (R-FL), the bill’s House sponsor, said the bill was about centralizing resources.

“This bill creates a one-stop-shop website for expectant mothers and fathers,” Jacques said. “The website will include resources like prenatal/postnatal services, parenting education, and adoption services.”

“I will always fight to make choosing life easier for expectant mothers and to make sure that pregnancy is never a burden,” Jacques added.

Florida empowers expecting parents with the information they need

Democrats in the Florida Legislature complained that the bill would encourage expecting mothers to choose life.

And they fought unsuccessfully to include messages promoting abortion on the website.

Pregnancy, especially an unplanned one, can be an overwhelming experience for expecting parents.

State Senator Erin Grall (R-FL), the Senate sponsor of this bill and the heartbeat bill, said the online resource was about helping expecting parents.

Grall shot down arguments that the abortion information needed to be included to give women “comprehensive choices” during the bill’s debate.

“We’re going to be putting together a website that is going to be an alternative to abortions, even though abortions are legal and safe here in the state of Florida,” State Senator Lori Berman (D-FL) whined during the debate.

Grall noted that the point of the website was to help parents.

“We’re here to talk about pregnancy and parenting, and all of the services that we provide as a state around that,” Grall explained.

“The most liberal woman who’s pregnant next to the most conservative woman who’s pregnant, the facts are still the same about the development of that child,” Grall said. “They’re still the same.”

Jacques slammed Democrats in the State House for the obsession with pushing abortion on expecting parents.

“It’s quite disturbing that some of my colleagues in this chamber [are] hellbent on adding the killing of unborn to a website that has to do with resources for parents,” Jacques said. “Because, God forbid, somebody chooses to bring in a life here in our state.”

Expecting parents in Florida will have more help available to navigate the challenges of pregnancy.
