California Governor Gavin Newsom spent the past two years attacking Ron DeSantis over his pro-freedom agenda and anti-woke policies.
But DeSantis took a trip to California over the weekend.
And Ron DeSantis pointed out one brutal truth about California that sent Gavin Newsom off the rails.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is the most popular elected Republican official in the country and is considered a top-tier Presidential contender in 2024.
Since California Governor Gavin Newsom wants to be President one day, he picked several fights with Ron DeSantis over the past two years in an effort to boost his national profile with Democrat voters.
Newsom appeared on CNN before the Midterm elections and challenged DeSantis to debate him on the network in front of a national audience.
He also spent $105,000 on a TV ad attacking DeSantis on Fox News in Florida over Independence Day where he called him a dictator for supporting parental rights.
Newsom donated more than $100,000 to Democrat Charlie Crist, who ended up losing to DeSantis by 19 points.
Ron DeSantis usually laughs off Newsom’s attacks and points to the data showing how California is a failure in every way measurable under him.
On Sunday, DeSantis visited California to promote his new book in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.
And the Florida Governor used the opportunity to punch back at Gavin Newsom over his failed policies.
“I know you’ve got a lot of problems out here, but your Governor is very concerned about what we are doing in Florida, so I figured I had to come by,” DeSantis told the crowd.

DeSantis pointed to the data showing how much better Florida is doing compared to Democrat-run states like California and New York.
“And I think if you look over the last four or five years, and you look at the performances of individual states, and you compare Florida versus California, New York, Illinois, some of those other states, we have had a great experiment, a great test in governing philosophies,” he said. “Because, of course, you know, we approach things much differently in Florida than you guys have out here, much differently in Florida than they’ve done in New York and in Illinois.”
DeSantis also mentioned how residents are packing up and fleeing Democrat-run states like California and moving to Republican-led states like Florida.
“And if you look over the last four years, we’ve witnessed a great American exodus from states governed by leftist politicians imposing leftist ideology and delivering poor results, and you’ve seen massive gains in states like Florida, who are governing according to the tried and true principles that President Reagan held dear,” DeSantis said. “From the beginning of this state’s history, all the way until the last four or five years, people beat a path to California,” he continued, before adding that “you didn’t beat a path away from California, and yet now you see the state hemorrhaging population.”
The Florida Governor called the Sunshine State a “beacon of freedom” for Californians after Newsom turned it into a “biomedical security state.”
“And I can tell you, we had families move from the Pacific coast just for the fact that we had schools open in Florida, when you didn’t have them open in many other states,” he said. “We did things like ban vaccine passports in the state of Florida.”
Gavin Newsom may have spent the past two years attacking DeSantis.
But DeSantis is armed with facts and statistics that prove Floridians are doing much better under his leadership than under Newsom.
