Ron DeSantis responded to the nickname Trump gave him with nine words that caught everyone off guard

Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump are the two most popular Republicans in America.

The two are expected to battle it out for the 2024 GOP nomination.

And Ron DeSantis responded to the nickname Trump gave him with nine words that caught everyone off guard.

Donald Trump and Nikki Haley are currently the only two major Republican candidates to officially announce their 2024 campaigns.

Of course, Haley poses no threat to Donald Trump for the GOP nomination.

However, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is the one Republican who could potentially defeat Trump should he decide to enter the race.

DeSantis is keeping his plans close to his chest, but sources close to the Florida Governor expect him to announce his candidacy at the end of the current legislative session in May.

But Donald Trump is not waiting on DeSantis to announce his campaign to start taking swipes at him.

Before the Midterm elections, Trump took a few shots at DeSantis at the campaign events he held around the country for candidates he endorsed.

Trump frequently repeats his claim that DeSantis owes him his political career because his endorsement catapulted him to victory in the 2018 GOP gubernatorial primary.

The former President also dubbed DeSantis with a nickname like he did his opponents in 2016 by calling the Florida Governor Ron “DeSanctimonious.”

DeSantis has mostly ignored Trump’s nicknames and refused to engage back and forth with him.

After his 19-point landslide re-election victory, DeSantis only responded by saying “I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night.”

During a recent interview with the New York Post, DeSantis discussed his ideas for a national agenda to restore greatness to our country.

DeSantis said there is “too much power” in Washington, D.C., which results in a “detached administrative state that rules over us and imposes its will on us.”

The Florida Governor told a story about how people would change the spelling of the teenage baseball players’ names on the lockers where he grew up as a prank.

This led to the reporter asking DeSantis if he ever changed his name to “Ron DeSanctimonious” in reference to Trump’s nickname.

“No,” DeSantis said. “There weren’t enough letters to be able to do that,” he continued, before adding “I don’t know if anyone can even spell that.”

Trump is trying to get Ron DeSantis to take the bait and engage in back and forth barbs with him.

But DeSantis is ignoring the bait and focusing on his agenda for Florida.
