Joe Biden has the media in his back pocket.
But it’s not for the reason that he expected.
And Ron DeSantis revealed one truth about the media that sent Kamala Harris into a fit of rage.
President Joe Biden had another disturbing press conference in Hanoi, Vietnam that brought concerns about his age and mental acuity back into the spotlight.
His mic was cut after he gave a rambling answer to a reporter where he abruptly said that he was going to bed.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre ran out to shut down the press conference but the damage was already done.
The media tried to run cover for Biden by brushing aside any concerns about his mental decline after his shocking performance in Vietnam.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appeared on Fox News for an interview with Laura Ingraham where he said that the media is protecting Biden because “nobody wants” Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him.
“This is a guy that is stumbling around the world stage,” DeSantis said. “He is projecting weakness. I think our enemies have already taken advantage of that. It’s likely to invite even more problems around the world and so, you know, it’s sad.”
Biden traveled to Asia to attend the G20 summit with world leaders, and to Vietnam to build closer ties with the communist nation.
“But I think it’s obvious that he has been struggling for quite some time,” DeSantis continued. “And you’re right, the corporate press is going to do whatever they can to run interference for him and I also look and think about who is waiting in the wings with Kamala and I think you’re right in terms of the aptitude.”
“She’s basically been his impeachment insurance because people know no matter how bad Biden is, nobody wants Harris,” DeSantis added.
Democrats have been grumbling behind the scenes about Harris since she became Vice President.
The media openly speculated about replacing her as Biden’s running mate after she became the most unpopular Vice President in modern history according to polling.
Retired Democrat senator Dennis DeConcini said that Biden is too old to run for a second term but the party was stuck with him because Harris is unelectable.
DeSantis was asked who he thought was running the show in the White House given Biden’s struggles.
“I think you have a lot of very left-wing aides and staffers in the White House. And I think you have a line to people like Valerie Jarrett, Obama,” DeSantis said. “I think they are all involved behind the scenes pushing him in a very left-wing direction.”
Kamala Harris has the unique political distinction of being wildly unpopular with Democrats and Republicans.
And so far that’s been Joe Biden’s safety net.
