Governor Ron DeSantis declared Florida is where woke goes to die.
DeSantis wants to make sure everyone knows that is more than just words.
And Ron DeSantis sent one big message to Disney that left the woke mob shaking with fear.
Governor DeSantis put his war on woke corporations into action with two major pieces of legislation.
First, DeSantis signed a bill that put Disney’s Reedy Creek District under the control of a board appointed by the Governor.
Previously, Disney wielded autonomous self-governing power over the district.
The legislation also stripped away some of Disney’s other special tax favors.
A DeSantis spokesman explained this was a common sense check on an unaccountable woke corporation.
“Until Governor DeSantis acted, the Walt Disney Company maintained sole control over the district,” the DeSantis spokesman stated. “This power amounted to an unaccountable Corporate Kingdom.”
Disney came under the microscope after previous CEO Bob Chapek stuck his nose in Florida’s political business to bully Republicans into accepting the Left’s radical transgender agenda in schools.
Chapek put out a statement demanding the legislature kill the Parental Rights in Education Bill, which banned teachers from grooming students in grades K-3 into the transgender lifestyle.
Republicans were sick of woke corporations throwing their weight around acting like Democrat Party Super PACs so Ron DeSantis decided to fight back.
Now Disney is pledging to work with the Governor in this new reality.
“We are focused on the future and are ready to work within this new framework, and we will continue to innovate, inspire and bring joy to the millions of guests who come to Florida to visit Walt Disney World each year,” Disney spokesman Jeff Vahle stated after DeSantis signed legislation placing the Reedy Creek District under the control of a board appointed by the Governor.
The fight with Disney was a turning point.
When Major League Baseball yanked the 2021 All-Star Game out of Georgia on the orders of Joe Biden and Stacy Abrams following the state passing a new election integrity law, conservatives realized they could no longer shrug their shoulders and say a private business can do whatever it wants.
Democrats used woke corporations to pressure red states into accepting social policies that leftists could not win at the ballot box.
Governor DeSantis showed the way to fight back is by declaring that if woke corporations want to involve themselves in government then they can no longer count on Republicans to provide tax breaks and other special favors to companies that act on behalf of the Democrat Party agenda.
