Ron DeSantis shut down this lie about Florida’s war on woke education with one word

Florida is cracking down on woke indoctrination masquerading as education.

The Left is trying to turn the safeguards in place to protect students against Florida.

And Ron DeSantis shut down this lie about Florida’s war on woke education with one word.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been on a mission to stamp out woke indoctrination in government schools in the Sunshine State.

He signed a bill to increase transparency in school curriculum, which had increasingly included sexually explicit books that promoted radical gender ideologies and the LBGTQ agenda.

Parents were given more control over their children’s education by allowing them to object to explicit material being used in the classroom.

That caused Democrats and their media allies to push a hoax that Florida was on a book banning spree.

Increasing parental rights in education has been one of the fundamental principles of DeSantis’ education agenda.

National media outlets falsely accused Florida of being second in the country for the number of books banned from schools.

Accusations flew that Florida was banning books by Dr. Seuss and classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and Johnny Appleseed.

The challenge system against books was being politicized by Left-wing activist teachers and librarians to try and ban unobjectionable books.

Librarians in the Escambia County School District banned nearly 2,000 books, including dictionaries and encyclopedias, in an effort to discredit the curriculum transparency law by using an overly broad interpretation to go on an actual book banning spree.

The Florida Governor is firing back at the accusations of book banning and the weaponization of his curriculum transparency law.

DeSantis called the smear that Florida was in the book banning business a “hoax.”

Local school districts and parents review materials to make sure that they meet state standards.

“Over the past year, parents have used their rights to object to pornographic and sexually explicit material they found in school libraries,” DeSantis said. “We also know that some people have abused this process in an effort to score cheap political points. Today, I am calling on the Legislature to make necessary adjustments so that we can prevent abuses in the objection process and ensure that districts aren’t overwhelmed by frivolous challenges.”

He called on the Department of Education to take measures to block school officials from politicizing the book review process.

“As the Education State, our focus is on academic excellence, not indoctrination,” Florida Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr said. “I am proud to stand with Governor DeSantis to ensure that Florida’s academic landscape remains rigorous and comprehensive and provides students with age-appropriate materials to help them achieve the highest academic success.”

The Left is fighting tooth and nail to try and indoctrinate students with explicit books pushing a divisive political agenda.
