Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci made Ron DeSantis out to be a villain when he rejected their COVID lockdowns and mandates.
But time proved them wrong.
And Ron DeSantis told Iowa Republicans six words that sent Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci into a fit of rage.
On Friday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis increased the speculation around a 2024 White House bid by visiting Iowa, the first-in-the-nation caucus state for the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary.
DeSantis spoke alongside Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds to over 700 Republicans at the Rhythm City Casino Resort in Davenport.
“This guy is a man on a mission,” Reynolds said when introducing DeSantis to the crowd.
DeSantis discussed some of the battles he fought over the past few years against the Left and revealed some of the thinking behind his pro-freedom policies.
He pointed out that after he won by “half a percentage point” in 2018, everyone told him he had to “be a little passive” if he wanted to get re-elected to a second term.
However, DeSantis said he rejected this thinking and decided to stand on principle.
“I rejected that advice,” he said. “My view was I may have received 50% of the vote, but I earned 100% of the executive power, and I intend to use that.”
“We said we’re going to go on offense,” DeSantis said. “We’re going to find issues – I’m not going to wait for them to come to me,” he continued, before adding that this resulted in him receiving more votes than “almost twice the previous record in a Governor’s race.”
“The static analysis of opinion is not what a leader should care about,” he said. “What a leader will do is not be captive to polls but to set a vision and shift public opinion and get people to support what you’re doing.”
DeSantis also took time during his speech to rip Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci for their failures during the pandemic.
“We refused to let our state descend into some sort of Faucian dystopia,” DeSantis said.
Ultimately, he said that time proved “we were right, they were wrong.”
He also slammed Biden for keeping the vaccine mandate in place for foreign visitors, which is preventing tennis star Novak Djokovic from playing in the upcoming Miami Open tournament.
“It’s COVID theater,” DeSantis said. “It is not based on science,” he continued, before adding that “it’s not conducive to freedom.”
Ron DeSantis continues to keep his plans for 2024 to himself.
But he appears to be laying the groundwork for a Presidential campaign.
And this has Joe Biden and the Democrats more determined than ever to stop his rise and knock him down.
