DeSantis blasts Democrats for El Salvador visit to meet with illegal alien
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis didn’t hold back when he appeared on Fox News to call out Democrat politicians for their bizarre trip to El Salvador.
Several prominent Democrats, including Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, made what DeSantis called a “pilgrimage” to meet with Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a convict being held at the Center for Terrorism and Confinement (CECOT).
Garcia has become a cause célèbre for the Left after his controversial deportation, with Democrats raising concerns about procedural problems with his removal.
“He has a lot of defenders who apparently didn’t know a lot of the details when they started jumping on his bandwagon,” DeSantis told host Martha MacCallum on Fox News.
What really set DeSantis off was the Democrats’ misplaced priorities.
“I think it’s bizarre that you see these Democrat politicians making a pilgrimage down there, you know, to sit there with this guy, because I never have seen those Democrat politicians meet with angel moms who’ve lost kids because of illegal alien crime,” DeSantis said. “I’ve never seen them show any sympathy for American citizens whose lives have been upended because of the open border policies when Joe Biden was President,” he continued. “And so it’s just odd that they’re so interested in somebody who came to the country illegally, who obviously has a very checkered background, but they don’t seem to show that same zeal in defending their own American constituents.”

While Democrats like Representative Maxwell Frost scrambled to get face time with Garcia, DeSantis pointed out they’ve never shown the same urgency to meet with American families devastated by illegal alien crime.
The Florida Governor has been outspoken about deportation, clarifying that it isn’t a “punishment,” but simply the correction of an illegal status.Â
He’s also suggested using National Guard members as immigration judges to speed up the process.
DeSantis has even offered Florida resources for deportation flights to El Salvador, showing his strong stance on immigration enforcement.
