Ron DeSantis has been called everything under the sun by the left-wing media over the past two years.
But this one takes the cake.
And Ron DeSantis was blindsided by one accusation he never expected to hear from CNN’s Don Lemon.
Co-host of CNN This Morning Don Lemon erupted into a fury on Thursday over Ron DeSantis removing Critical Race Theory and other woke left-wing garbage from the state’s curriculum.
Lemon is referring to the recent letter DeSantis sent to the College Board Florida Partnership letting them know that the new Advanced Placement (AP) class in African American Studies was “inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks education value.”
As usual, the Democrats and left-wing media instantly attacked DeSantis and called him a “racist” and an “authoritarian” allegedly attempting to erase black history.
Of course, the reality is that the AP African American Studies syllabus is nothing but Critical Race Theory and woke insanity.
During Thursday morning’s broadcast, Lemon attacked DeSantis and said he needs to “stop it!”
“What are we doing here?” he said to co-host Poppy Harlow. “I mean this, I feel like we’re going back, I feel like I’m watching a bad version of Pleasantville where you’re — I don’t get what’s happening,” he continued, before adding that “it feels like the 1950s all over again with, like, book banning.”
But then Don Lemon made one accusation against DeSantis that the Florida Governor never expected to hear from anyone on the Left.
Lemon claimed that Ron DeSantis was promoting “cancel culture.”
“This cancel culture from people who are — I guess they just want our kids to be ignorant and to control the teachers,” Lemon ranted. “This is outrageous.”
Guest reporter Leyla Santiago offered a weak defense of DeSantis by admitting that it was more about parental rights and that “parents say I’m not comfortable with some of that material.”
But Lemon disagreed and claimed parental rights were just a “red herring” for conservatives.
“This is not about a voice in education,” he said. “I think that is a red herring because there are a lot of uncomfortable topics that are in books.”
Lemon ended by admitting that “these things get me riled up, and everybody should be riled up.”
“We have to stand up against this,” he added.
Lemon can get “riled up” all he wants to, but the fact is polls show the majority of voters, including Democrats, support parental rights in education.
