Democrats are treating Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just like Donald Trump.
Leftists launch witch hunt after witch hunt hoping some made up scandal will stick.
Now Ron DeSantis was forced to make one courtroom confession that Democrats never saw coming.
The latest attempt to tar Governor DeSantis with a made up controversy came when the Florida Center for Government Accountability filed a public records request for all documents and communications surrounding Governor DeSantis’ decision to fly 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard to call attention to the fact that Joe Biden refuses to secure the southern border.
DeSantis focused attention on one of the Left’s biggest political weak spots, so Democrats retaliated by trying to drum up a fake scandal about DeSantis supposedly misusing money the legislature appropriated to transfer illegal aliens out of Florida and to Democrat-run sanctuary states and cities.
The left-wing Florida Center for Government Accountability demanded immediate access to the records so they could leak them to the Fake News Media and create a phony “October surprise” to derail the full head of steam DeSantis built up for his re-election campaign.
But DeSantis’ lawyers filed a nine-page response explaining they could not produce the records until December as multiple groups and individuals filed records requests on this matter and the Florida Center for Government Accountability had no right to jump to the front of the line.
“[Florida Center for Government Accountability] has no right to leap ahead of other requesters to have its requests satisfied at breakneck speed just because it may have the resources and wherewithal to engage in litigation,” DeSantis’ lawyers wrote.
The administration promised to fulfill their request by December as DeSantis’ lawyers explained administration officials could not just drop everything to fulfill one specific request.
“Many requesters seek records from the governor’s senior staff, and they have primary responsibilities that include time-sensitive tasks on matters of great importance to the state,” DeSantis’ lawyers added. “Therefore they cannot drop everything they are doing to dedicate uninterrupted hours or days to search for responsive records.”
This response enraged director of public access with the Florida Center for Government Accountability Michael Barfield as it ruined the plan to make a campaign issue out of these records.
“Everyone in the line has been complaining loudly about the delays but it has fallen on deaf ears,” Barfield whined. “The center decided to stop complaining and ask a judge to intervene.”
