Ron DeSantis was thrown for a loop when a country singer made this endorsement

Jan 15, 2024

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has built a political movement standing for freedom.

He has brought people from all walks of life onto his side.

And Ron DeSantis was thrown for a loop when a country singer made this endorsement.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis got one of the most unique endorsements, yet, for his Presidential campaign from country music star, Billy Dean.

Dean, a Florida native, released the song “Never Back Down,” the Florida governor’s 2024 campaign slogan, in conjunction with the DeSantis Presidential campaign.

The music video for the song uses footage from the DeSantis campaign of the Florida governor at various campaign events.

“If you’ve had enough of the same old crowd, and you want to rise up, well the time is now,” Dean sings. “You’ve got to stand your ground, and if you still believe in the American dream, then never back down.”

Dean told Fox News that he is a Floridian who’s lived the American dream during his musical career.

“My dad served in WW2 and lost 2 brothers Harold Mason Dean and Robert Lloyd Dean to the cause,” Dean said. “They sacrificed their dreams so I could live mine. My dad did not want me to serve the country with guns and bullets, but I can serve with my pen, paper, and guitar.”

The country music star said that DeSantis had become “America’s governor.”

“He inspired me to write and record a song as a message to all those who put power and party above country; you won’t get away with it, without a fight,” Dean said. “I owe it to our Veterans to NEVER BACK DOWN.”

Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis thanked Dean for the song on social media and said it was going to be released on platforms like Spotify and iTunes shortly.

DeSantis plans to use the song at upcoming campaign events.

This is not the first time that a DeSantis campaign has gotten the support of a Florida-based musical talent.

His 2022 gubernatorial re-election campaign had “Sweet Florida” composed for it by Van Zant.

Jacksonville’s Johnny and Donnie Van Zant are the brothers of Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd’s original lead singer Ronnie Van Zant.

“Well, we ain’t been locked down, we still have our freedom,” Johnny Van Zant sings. “We can still see our friends and family, oh, our kids are in school and we can go to church on Sunday. And it’s all because DeSantis knows how to lead.”

Ron DeSantis has inspired some of Florida’s biggest musicians to join his movement.
