Stephen King is the most accomplished modern author in the horror genre.
He also happens to be an outspoken Democrat hack.
And Stephen King told one ugly lie about Florida that instantly blew up in his face.
Stephen King falsely claims that Florida banned his books
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has faced relentless attacks from Democrats and their media allies about his bold conservative agenda.
Protecting the innocence of children from the Left’s unrelenting culture war has been one of his top political priorities.
Celebrities have joined in the attacks on DeSantis despite owning homes in Florida or frequenting his state for vacations.
Horror author Stephen King took to social media to claim without evidence that Florida was banning his books.
“Florida has banned 23 of my books. What the f**k?” King wrote on X.
King is a hardcore Democrat who spouts whatever the party line at the time is.
The post gained traction on social media but it was a work of fiction like the author’s books.
None of King’s books are banned in Florida.
The author was trying to make a reference to a law signed by DeSantis that prohibited inappropriate books from being used in the curriculum for government schools and kept in their libraries.
King confirmed his ignorance in a statement to Newsweek.
“I have said it before, and will say it again: When books are banned from school libraries, run to your public library, or the nearest bookstore, and read what it is your elders don’t want you to know,” King ranted.
His books are not kept in school libraries but used in the classroom because they are wildly inappropriate for many age groups.
Elementary school students should not be reading books filled with violence, sex, and gore that are meant for adults.
Most movie adaptations of King’s works are rated R which would prohibit anyone under the age of 17 from watching them.
That adult content does not become acceptable because it’s in paperback form.
Stephen King slammed for his social media hot take
The law signed by DeSantis last year allows parents and members of the community to challenge books that are sexually explicit from being used in government schools.
Sexually explicit LGBTQ books were being used in classrooms to push an agenda, not educate students.
Democrats and their media allies launched a hoax that Florida was engaged in book bans.
Florida Department of Education spokeswoman Sydney Booker told Newsweek that King came up with a tall tale about the book ban.
“There are no books banned in Florida,” Booker said. “Sexually explicit material and instruction are not suitable for schools.”
Social media users raked King over the coals for his misrepresentation of Florida’s law.
“I’m not sure Stephen understands how creepy this is, considering the materials that are being restricted are openly pornographic,” Virginia Delegate Nick Freitas (R-VA) wrote on X.
“Periodic reminder that when they accuse us of ‘banning books’ they’re referring to graphic books containing pornographic content. Stephen King wants your kids to have access to these books in school,” Libs of TikTok wrote on X.
Stephen King is another clueless celebrity who looked like a fool trying to push Democrat talking points.
