The latest election results are further proof that Republicans need DeSantis to win in 2024

Nov 9, 2023

Last Tuesday, Democrats trounced Republicans in states holding elections this year.

This comes just a year after Republicans took heavy losses across the nation, despite all of Joe Biden’s failures.

And the latest election results are further proof that Republicans need DeSantis to win in 2024.

Republicans had another bad election night.

In Virginia, Democrats now control both chambers of the state legislature.

Democrat Governor Andy Beshear defeated Trump endorsed Daniel Cameron in Kentucky.

New Jersey Democrats expanded their legislative majority.

This week’s elections were reminiscent of the 2022 midterms, in which a much predicted “red wave” never materialized.

In 2022, the only state Republicans did well in was Florida, where Ron DeSantis trounced former Governor Charlie Crist by 19 points.

DeSantis largely deserves credit for the GOP managing to gain control of the House, both with his efforts on redistricting and his coattails on election day.

The DeSantis campaign made it clear that the GOP needs to move on from Trump if they plan to win in 2024.

“This is the moment we Republicans have to decide we are tired of losing,” said DeSantis’ campaign press secretary Bryan Griffin, “We can’t allow an outcome like last night to happen next year.”

“@RonDeSantis built a coalition and ran on a record that trounced the Dems in Florida with a 20 point win. He can stop them nationally. We’ve got to nominate a winner,” he added.

The fact is that Republicans haven’t had a good election year since 2016.

It’s not lost on many political watchers that that was the year Donald Trump appealed to pro-Life voters for their help, promising to appoint SCOTUS Justices who opposed abortion and would overturn Roe.

Trump made good on that promise, but since then, he has listened to the bad advice emanating from the RINO consultant class and turned his back on core supporters over the issue.

In fact, Trump and some of his supporters have recently taken to blaming pro-Lifers for Republican election losses, but these claims hold no water.

DeSantis is unapologetically pro-Life and has signed into law a 6-week ban that Trump described as “harsh” and “terrible.”

That’s a promise he made prior to Florida providing the GOP one of the few bright spots in the 2022 Midterms.

DeSantis led Florida Republicans to historic gains in an election that saw much of the country reject the RINO establishment’s strategy of pandering to so-called moderates on the issue.

Another strong pro-Life Governor, who recently raised the ire of Trump for endorsing Ron DeSantis, Kim Reynolds, won reelection by 18 points in 2022.

Meanwhile, Trump endorsed Senate candidate Mehmet Oz, who publicly opposed federal pro-Life legislation, lost to John Fetterman, despite the fact that Fetterman could barely put together a coherent sentence.

With so much at stake in 2024, team DeSantis continues to make the case that Republicans cannot afford to continue to tie themselves to Trump, which has cost them in the last several elections.

DeSantis has already proven that he is able to win over independent voters, while refusing to compromise on principle.
