Trust in institutional media is at an all-time low from decades of media elites putting their thumbs on the scales of public debate.
But this brazen omission went far beyond the pale.
And the national media just got ruthlessly flogged for ignoring this group of American heroes.
The third GOP debate took place last Wednesday in Miami, Florida.
And although the Governor appreciates his state hosting the debate, he criticized the RNC’s decision not to hold debates in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire.
“We need to do a debate in Iowa,” DeSantis told a group of voters in Iowa. “We should do it, we should partner with local media, we should do one that’s going to reach all throughout this state.”
“I would have liked to have seen the December one in Iowa, but hopefully we do have a couple of weeks in early January to have a debate in Iowa,” DeSantis said. “But that needs to be done,” he continued. “And the same thing with New Hampshire, those are the two states in January that are going to vote and we need to really focus on reaching those voters so that those voters can make a decision.”
In New Hampshire, DeSantis expressed the same sentiment.
“We should be doing these Republican debates in New Hampshire and in Iowa, since we’re going to be there anyway,” DeSantis said.
However, DeSantis admitted that the third debate in Miami was much better than the first two and praised NBC for doing a professional job hosting it.
“I think by and large that debate was professionally done,” DeSantis said. “We were concerned with NBC that it would be all these really left-wing questions,” he continued. “But I think they rehashed a lot of questions that have already been asked in some of these things and that we’ve all answered multiple times, not only on the debate stage but in interviews.”
But DeSantis was not happy about one group he feels gets left out of the discussion on the campaign trail.
And that group is our nation’s veterans.
“And so there’s issues like veterans that have just totally fallen by the wayside because it’s not something that I think the national media really gravitates to,” DeSantis said.
DeSantis is currently the only veteran running for President.
After he graduated from Harvard Law School, Ron DeSantis earned a commission in the U.S. Navy as a JAG officer.
DeSantis served in Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
As the only candidate who served in the military, Ron DeSantis is making sure our nation’s veterans are not left out of the discussion.
