New Hampshire is one of the most important GOP Presidential Primary battleground states in the nation.
The Granite State holds the first Republican Primary vote following the Iowa Caucuses.
And the New Hampshire House Republican Leader just published seven words about Ron DeSantis that caught Donald Trump by surprise.
Republican candidates know they must put up a strong performance in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina to have a shot at winning the GOP nomination.
Even though he has yet to enter the race, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has already visited Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina over the past two months as part of his book-signing tour.
Donald Trump has already made three trips to New Hampshire and is set to hold a town hall event in the Granite State next week hosted by CNN.
The latest polls show Donald Trump with a strong lead in New Hampshire.
Of course, Ron DeSantis has not yet entered the race.
But DeSantis just picked up one of the biggest GOP endorsements in New Hampshire.
In an op-ed for the New Hampshire Journal, State House Majority Leader Jason Osborne made it perfectly clear who he supports for President.
“As the 2024 Presidential Primary begins in New Hampshire, Republicans are looking for a strong, capable challenger for Joe Biden who can win and lead our country forward,” Osborne wrote. “Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is emerging as a top contender, and for good reason,” he continued, before adding that “with his drive, energy, and proven record of success, I believe DeSantis is exactly the leader America needs today.”
Osborne listed off several reasons for his decision to endorse Ron DeSantis over Donald Trump in the 2024 race.
“Governor DeSantis is a proven effective leader,” he wrote. “He has shown that he has the determination to change broken systems and fight against radical agendas trying to undermine our society.”
Osborne noted that despite DeSantis’ narrow 0.04% victory in 2018 and his willingness to fight for conservative values, he “secured re-election by the largest margin in fifty years, also extending his coattails down the ballot resulting in a supermajority legislature.”
“This is a testament to his popularity and effectiveness as a leader,” Osborne added. “DeSantis is a man who knows how to win, and he can help Republicans win in 2024.”
Osborne also praised DeSantis for his “strong leadership” during the pandemic and his support for parental rights.
“Governor Ron DeSantis is exactly the candidate America needs in 2024,” Osborne wrote. “He has the drive and energy to win, a record of success to prove it, and the leadership qualities to bring our country together.”
The Florida legislative session is wrapping up its 2023 agenda.
And if DeSantis makes his expected announcement after the session adjourns, he will have a good foundation of high-profile support in his corner to start the race.
