The New York Supreme Court just handed down a ruling that put a huge smile on Ron DeSantis’ face

Ron DeSantis rejected Joe Biden’s lockdown orders and protected workers in Florida from his illegal vaccine mandate.

Democrats and the corporate-controlled media treated DeSantis as a personal punching bag for his pro-freedom policies.

But the New York Supreme Court just handed down a ruling that put a huge smile on Ron DeSantis’ face.

Democrat-controlled states and cities followed Joe Biden’s orders during the pandemic and enforced his illegal vaccine mandate on healthcare workers and government employees.

In 2021, New York City implemented one of the most strict COVID policies in America by requiring all City employees to get the vaccine and denying all requests for a religious exemption.

Any firefighters, police officers, or other first responders who refused to take the vaccine were fired by the City.

But on Tuesday, the New York Supreme Court in Staten Island handed down a ruling against the terminations, calling them illegal and unconstitutional.

In the 13-page decision, Justice Ralph Porzio of the New York Supreme Court in Staten Island wrote that “we shouldn’t be penalizing the people who showed up to work, at great risk to themselves and their families, while we were locked down.”

Porzio ripped New York City Health Commissioner David Chokshi’s vaccine mandate, writing that it “violates the separation of powers doctrine” in the New York Constitution.

The Commissioner had no “power and authority to permanently exclude [those employees] from their workplace.”

Porzio ordered that the employees be reinstated immediately and be given back pay for time missed.

Since the mandates made no sense, Porzio said that means they had to be about one thing and one thing only: Control.

“If it was about safety and public health, the Health Commissioner would have issued city-wide mandates for all residents,” Porzio wrote.

“The vaccine mandate for City employees was not just about safety and public health; it was about compliance,” the judge concluded.

Ron DeSantis celebrated Judge Porzio’s ruling on Twitter.

“The NY Supreme Court struck down the COVID regime’s vaccine mandates and ordered the reinstatement of unvaxxed employees with back pay,” DeSantis wrote.

“In Florida, no one had to choose between a job and a jab – I’m glad it’s finally like that in New York.”

DeSantis Press Secretary Bryan Griffin also took a victory lap on the ruling against the mandates.

“The New York Supreme Court finds that the lockdown left’s vaccine mandates were ‘about compliance’ and being vaccinated ‘does not prevent an individual from contracting or transmitting COVID-19,’” he wrote in a post thanking DeSantis for “shielding” Floridians from the “compliance regime.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams picked a fight with DeSantis over his opposition to vaccine mandates.

Adams even ran digital ads in five Florida markets aimed at attracting residents who are offended by the Parental Rights in Education bill to move to New York City.

But DeSantis is the one smiling in the end.
