Technical issues with Twitter interrupted Ron DeSantis’ Presidential announcement on Wednesday.
Joe Biden poked fun at DeSantis over the glitch.
But The New York Times revealed one fact about Ron DeSantis’ Presidential announcement that left Joe Biden feeling uneasy.
Ron DeSantis took a gamble on Wednesday by becoming the first Presidential candidate in history to use a social media platform to launch their campaign.
DeSantis used a Twitter Space hosted by Elon Musk to officially announce his 2024 White House bid.
But blazing a new path always comes with a price.
And DeSantis paid the price in the form of multiple technical glitches from the get-go.
After several minutes of complications, like the audio cutting in and out, Musk ultimately had to switch DeSantis over to a new Twitter Space to finish the announcement.
Donald Trump used the technical glitch to mock DeSantis on his Truth Social platform and Joe Biden used it to fundraise for his Presidential campaign.
But now that the dust has settled, Donald Trump and Joe Biden are no longer laughing at DeSantis.
That’s because according to The New York Times, despite the technical glitch, DeSantis raised over $8.2 million in the first 24 hours.
DeSantis brought in $1 million within one hour of launching his campaign.
“The $8.2 million figure is more than the $6.3 million that Joseph R. Biden Jr. raised in his first 24 hours as a candidate in 2019, or the $6.1 million raised by former Representative Beto O’Rourke that same year,” The New York Times reported. “The DeSantis sum includes both online contributions and donations secured by bundlers who had gathered on Thursday at the grand ballroom in the Four Seasons in Miami for what was called a Ron-O-Rama to make fund-raising calls for the campaign.”
Casey DeSantis congratulated her husband on a record-breaking performance, as “$8.2 Million is the most raised by any candidate in 24 hours in the history of presidential politics.”
“To everyone who sent in a donation, THANK YOU – the excitement is off the charts!” Casey DeSantis wrote. “$8.2 Million is the most raised by any candidate in 24 hours in the history of presidential politics!” she continued, adding that she is “looking forward to our Great American Comeback, thank you for joining the movement!”
