Led by Governor Ron DeSantis, Republicans in Florida took a sledgehammer to the Left’s woke agenda over the past few years.
But the battle is far from over.
And the woke mob will be furious when they see what Republicans in the Florida Legislature have planned for this session.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spent the majority of his time over the past several months on the Presidential campaign trail meeting with voters in states like Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
But DeSantis was back in Tallahassee on Tuesday to deliver the annual State of the State address in front of a joint session of the State Legislature.
The Florida Governor kicked off his speech by pointing to the problems piling up across America thanks to Joe Biden’s disastrous Presidency.
“We are in the midst of a great upheaval throughout the nation,” DeSantis said. “Under the Biden administration, homelessness is at record levels, 62 percent of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, and the federal budget deficit is expected to hit $2 trillion this year.”
DeSantis pointed to the millions of illegal aliens flooding across the border, the decay of America’s major cities, and the uptick in crime under Joe Biden’s control.
He also noted that Americans are packing up and leaving Democrat-led states in droves and relocating to Republican states like Florida and Texas.
But while most states are struggling under Biden’s Presidency, Florida is thriving thanks to DeSantis’ pro-freedom agenda and willingness to fight the woke Left.
“The failures are not a result of chance but of choices made by elected officials to put ideology over sound policy,” DeSantis said. “In this time for choosing, Florida has chosen well.”
“We have chosen facts over fear, education over indoctrination, law and order over rioting and disorder, and fiscal responsibility over debt and profligacy,” he continued.
DeSantis listed off a number of victories he led against the radical Left during the last session.
This included passing the Parental Rights in Education Bill, protecting women’s sports, ending the woke indoctrination and sexualization of children, and defending the right to life.
But DeSantis said the battle is far from over despite the success of last year’s session.
“The 2023 Legislative Session was monumental, and it is incumbent upon us to build upon those accomplishments as we continue to deliver results,” DeSantis said. “My message is simple: stay the course.”
And based on some of the legislation already filed by members, Republican lawmakers are taking DeSantis’ advice on staying the course.
So far, some of the legislation includes banning lab-grown meat, protecting children, and the “What is a Woman Act.”
The What is a Woman Act would establish legally in state law that a person’s official gender (driver’s license, etc.) cannot differ from their biological sex at birth.
Ron DeSantis vowed two years ago to make Florida be where “woke goes to die.”
And DeSantis continues to live up to his word by leading the Florida Republicans into battle for another session.
