Ron DeSantis is keeping his 2024 plans close to his chest.
But establishment Republicans are already launching arrows at the Florida Governor.
And this former Republican Governor went on MSNBC and made one claim about Ron DeSantis that he instantly regretted.
Former RINO Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is likely running for President in 2024.
On Sunday, Hogan appeared on MSNBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ and took a few swipes at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Host Chuck Todd played a clip for Hogan of DeSantis at a press conference talking about woke indoctrination of young children in school books.
“Go read books like ‘Genderqueer’ and see what’s in there,” DeSantis said at the press conference. “It’s inappropriate. So we’ve armed parents to object to that and make sure they’re having education and not indoctrination.”
Todd wanted to know Hogan’s opinion on DeSantis’ battle against the woke Left.
“My question to you is not whether this is a legitimate issue to be talking about,” Todd began. “It’s about whether this is the main issue or not,” he continued, before asking Hogan “do you view this as the main issue for 2024?”
Hogan agreed that “it’s an important issue . . . and people are concerned about this as I travel across the country because most people just don’t think we should be talking about things like sex to young kids and the parents want to be more involved in the decisions about what their kids are being taught.”
Hogan said he takes issue with “some of this rhetoric” used by DeSantis.
But then he put jaws on the floor by repeating the Left’s favorite talking point about Ron DeSantis by claiming he is an “authoritarian.”
“I’m a small government, common sense conservative, and to me it sounds like big government and authoritarian,” Hogan said. “You have to agree with me and I’ll tell you what you can and can’t do.”
Of course, Hogan accusing DeSantis of being an “authoritarian” while claiming to be a “small government” Republican is demonstrably wrong.
Hogan supported Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci’s COVID lockdowns and mask mandates that DeSantis refused to implement in Florida.
Larry Hogan did not even support Donald Trump in 2016 against Hillary Clinton or in 2020 against Joe Biden.
The reality is that Larry Hogan is just another establishment RINO like Mitt Romney.
Ron DeSantis is a conservative fighter who also won his re-election by a 19-point landslide victory.
Larry Hogan attacking DeSantis is a sign that the establishment sees him as a threat in 2024.
