Donald Trump is terrified of Ron DeSantis.
The Trump campaign and Trump super-PAC spent over $20 million hoping to destroy DeSantis.
But DeSantis is still standing – and Trump received a brutal reality check he never saw coming.
It all comes down to Trump or DeSantis
Other candidates like Mike Pence and Nikki Haley might take cheap shots at DeSantis hoping to gain a few voters or go up a percentage point.
But at the end of the day – everyone who is following the race knows it all comes down to a two-man race – Trump vs. DeSantis.
The media (and of course Donald Trump himself) might insist Trump will be the nominee – but things aren’t always as they seem.
DeSantis proves he is tough as nails
No other candidate, not even Donald Trump, has faced attacks like DeSantis has.
An unlikely and unholy alliance composed of Donald Trump, establishment RINOS, and woke media pundits are all gunning for Ron DeSantis.
And Kristin Davison, the chief operating officer of the super-PAC Never Back Down (the main super-PAC supporting DeSantis) explained the media is exaggerating Trump’s advantage.
Davison said “It is clear that this is a two-person race, and 50 percent of Republicans want to vote for people not named Donald Trump,” reported The Hill.
And with so many people determined to take down DeSantis – the fact that he is still standing strong highlights he’s still very much in the game.
“He (DeSantis) was hit with about $22 million of negative advertising originally — that number is probably closer to $26 million right now — from the Trump campaign and the Trump super-PAC,” Davison said.
She continued “Any other candidate would not have survived that,” The Hill reported.
If another candidate faced $26 million in attacks – they would be curled up on the floor in a ball – but DeSantis is still running forward full steam ahead.
Trump’s arrogance could backfire
Trump might put on a confident face – but if he wasn’t afraid of DeSantis – he wouldn’t be attacking him so relentlessly.
After all, he isn’t spending $26 million to take down Nikki Haley, or Tim Scott, or Mike Pence.
Yet still, the Trump campaign continues to insult and belittle DeSantis.
DeSantis recently replaced his campaign manager, and the Trump campaign seized the moment to fire out another snarky comment.
Trump Senior Advisor Jason Miller said “Bless his heart, but Governor DeSantis doesn’t have a campaign staff problem, he has a candidate problem,” reported The Hill.
“You can’t coach personality,” Miller continued.
The only “candidate problem” in the race is the arrogance of Donald Trump who thinks every candidate he’s ever supported or said a nice word about owes him indefinite loyalty.
Donald Trump and the media may lead others to believe the campaign is over – but the truth is – it hasn’t even started yet.
