And voters had one shocking reaction to Ron DeSantis’ 2024 announcement.
Ron DeSantis gambled on announcing the launch of his campaign on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk.
Several hundred thousand listeners signed on and crashed the server causing the event to turn into a fiasco.
Liberal journalists popped champagne corks and warned that the disastrous launch would set the tone for the DeSantis campaign going forward.
But there is a cold, hard fact of life that the media refuses to accept as reality, which is that Twitter is not real life.
Reporters from the left-wing gossip site POLITICO attended an event in Iowa for RINO South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
Regular voters who do not live and die with the up-to-the-minute news cycle of Twitter had no idea that DeSantis’ campaign botched the launch.
“I knew that it was going to happen today on Twitter,” Clinton Vos told POLITICO, “But I’m not a Twitter follower.”
“I did not,” 39-year-old Curtis Kull said when asked if he heard about the Twitter Spaces fiasco.
“I just heard that he did,” Gwen Sturrock admitted. “And that it kept stalling or whatever.”
Sturrock even chalked up the failed launch as a positive development.
“It might mean that a lot of people were very interested,” Sturrock added.
The Twitter Spaces debacle was eclipsed in the news cycle the next day.
And there is no question that DeSantis had a rough campaign launch.
But there is also no question the Twitter Spaces blooper was a fixation for the media that regular people and – more importantly – Primary voters did not know or care about.
