A routine grocery run turned into chaos when tempers exploded at a Miami supermarket.
What began as heated words soon turned into complete mayhem.
And a Florida man turned a Publix into WWE SmackDown with one makeshift weapon that left shoppers speechless.
Verbal argument escalates into full-scale supermarket brawl
Thursday evening customers at a Miami-Dade Publix got front-row seats to chaos when two groups decided the grocery store entrance was the perfect place for a showdown.
The mayhem began around 6 p.m. at the Colonial Plaza Shopping Center location at 9510 SW 160th St.
Security footage and witness videos captured the entire wild scene as it unfolded in front of horrified customers trying to buy groceries.
Deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reported that an "aggressive verbal altercation" between two large groups near the store entrance escalated into violence.¹
Two women fighting each other knocked into a greeting card display, scattering shelves and merchandise across the floor.

But the chaos was just getting started.
Then 20-year-old Climont Mann decided to escalate things to a whole new level.
The shirtless man spotted one of the dislodged metal shelves on the ground and saw an opportunity.
Video captured Mann picking up one of the fallen metal shelves and using it as a weapon against the two women who were still brawling on the ground.²
Mann struck the women with the metal shelf three times – at one point walking away toward another altercation before returning to hit them again.
Publix employees watch helplessly as chaos spreads throughout store
What followed next looked more like a food fight gone wrong than a grocery shopping experience.
Objects flew through the air as the confrontation expanded – greeting cards, headphones, bread, sandals, and someone’s wig ended up scattered everywhere.
The violence moved from the entrance area toward the self-checkout section and eventually spilled into the parking lot.
Store employees positioned themselves near the cash registers and employee areas while waiting for law enforcement to respond rather than getting involved.
"Security did not step in when they should’ve. It was just an outrage and a disgrace," one shopper told NBC 6 South Florida.³
Other customers either stood around filming the chaos or quickly moved to avoid getting caught up in it.
When Miami-Dade deputies finally arrived, both groups had taken their fight outside where they continued throwing plates and other items at each other.
Emergency medical crews treated multiple people at the scene and took two individuals to nearby hospitals for their injuries.
Police reports don’t reveal what initially triggered the violent confrontation between the two groups.
Mann faces serious charges as community questions store security
Look, this isn’t your typical grocery store disagreement over the last rotisserie chicken.
When someone decides to use store fixtures as weapons against other people, you’ve moved way beyond a simple disagreement.
Mann was arrested at the scene on charges of aggravated battery, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct.
During his bond hearing, the criminal mischief charge was dropped, but he still faces the felony aggravated battery and disorderly conduct charges.
The judge set Mann’s bond at $5,150 and issued a stay-away order requiring him to avoid contact with his alleged victims both in person and through social media.⁴
Mann remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with his arraignment date set for December 8.
What should alarm every responsible citizen is that this violence erupted in a busy supermarket during prime shopping hours when families and children could easily have been present.
The decision by security personnel not to step in while someone was attacking people with a metal shelf raises troubling questions about how we protect the public in these situations.
Local residents are already voicing concerns that this kind of violent behavior could make people afraid to shop at the store and drive away regular customers.
But there’s a bigger problem we need to face here – the growing acceptance of public violence as a way to settle disputes.
When people think grocery stores are appropriate venues for physical confrontations, something fundamental has broken down in our society.
Anyone who witnessed this chaos – particularly children who might have been shopping with their parents – will carry the trauma of seeing adults behave like animals in what should be a safe public space.
The Miami community shouldn’t have to worry about getting caught in the crossfire of someone else’s beef while picking up groceries for dinner.
Both groups received lifetime bans from the store, but that Band-Aid solution doesn’t address the core issue of people who choose violence over civilized behavior.
As long as there are minimal real-world consequences for turning public spaces into combat zones, we’ll keep seeing these incidents that put innocent families at risk.
