Bernie Sanders went to Little Havana and got screamed at by people who survived the real version.
Now the Florida Democrat Party chair just confessed on camera why that scene keeps repeating.
Nikki Fried just told a local news station exactly why her party keeps losing Florida – and it has nothing to do with messaging or money.
What Fried Said and What She Was Afraid to Say
Fried chose her words carefully, but the admission was unmistakable.
"We have hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people that call Florida home, that left communists and socialists and authoritarian regimes to find a better way of life here in the state of Florida," Fried said.
She was explaining why the national wave of socialist candidates sweeping New York and Colorado primaries has zero chance of working in Florida.

She's right – but she'll never say the obvious part out loud.
Those Cubans and Venezuelans and Nicaraguans didn't leave socialism because they preferred a different economic system.
They left because people they knew were imprisoned.
They left because neighbors disappeared.
They left because grocery shelves went empty and never refilled.
They didn't read about socialism in a college textbook.
They lived it.
And when Bernie Sanders called the Castro regime "profound" for providing "free health care, free education, and free housing," Cuban voters in South Florida didn't just disagree – they were furious.
"For me, it's very, very insulting and very sad," said Maria Fernandez Gomez, a Cuban-roots voter from Miami, when Sanders was rising in 2020. Her father was a political prisoner of the Castro regime.
That's the coalition Nikki Fried is terrified of losing.
The National Left Turn Makes Florida Impossible
While Fried explains reality to her own party, the national Democrat brand is sprinting in the opposite direction.

Democratic socialist Melat Kiros just knocked off a 15-term incumbent in Colorado – a candidate who wants to abolish ICE, pass a Trans Bill of Rights, and who called the Hamas October 7th attacks the "inevitable consequence" of Israeli policy.
Three more DSA-backed candidates won congressional primaries in New York City the week before.
Nancy Pelosi – who is 86 years old and still the voice of Democrat reason, which tells you everything – has been publicly scolding these socialist candidates for torching what little chance Democrats have of winning a House majority.
"You can't gain by losing," Pelosi said.
Meanwhile, Florida Republicans aren't losing anything.
Republicans now outnumber registered Democrats in Florida by more than 1.5 million voters – a gap widening every single month since November 2021.
Since 2025 alone, Republicans gained 33,000 new Florida voters while Democrats lost 17,000.
That's not a trend.
That's a collapse.
Democrats Built This Problem and They Know It
Fried talks about Florida being "different" as if it's some geographic curiosity – like the humidity or the alligators.
It's not different because of geography.
It's different because Florida has a million people who watched socialism destroy their countries in real time, got on a boat or a plane with nothing, and rebuilt their lives here.
And the national Democrat Party spent the last decade telling those people their lived experience was wrong.
They called it "red-baiting" when Republicans used the word socialism.
They dismissed Cuban-American alarm as manipulation by GOP operatives.

They ran ads featuring "Cubanos con Biden" while Biden's own party elevated Bernie Sanders – the man who honeymooned in the Soviet Union and praised Castro's literacy programs on national television.
Florida didn't shift red because Republicans ran a clever ad campaign.
Florida shifted red because Democrats kept nominating candidates who looked at Venezuela and asked, "What if we tried that here?"
Fried knows this.
She's hoping she can thread the needle in 2026 – running centrists for governor while the national party mainlines DSA socialism in New York and Colorado.
That's not a strategy.
That's a prayer.
And the 1.5 million voter registration gap says it isn't working.
