Florida arrested a teacher last week who had been grooming what he thought was a 14-year-old girl online for two months straight.
That teacher spent nine years teaching geometry to the same kids he was trying to exploit.
Now police say Hayden Anthis drove to that parking lot with protection and Skittles – and found handcuffs waiting instead.
A Decade in the Classroom, Two Months Targeting a Child
Anthis, 34, had been a geometry teacher at Harmony High School in Osceola County since 2017 – nearly a decade in front of Central Florida teenagers.
Starting in June, St. Cloud Police say their Internet Crimes Against Children unit began exchanging messages with Anthis in an online forum.
He thought he was talking to a 14-year-old girl.
He wasn’t.
For nearly two months, police say the conversations turned explicitly sexual.
“He thought he would be wearing the condoms and eating the Skittles candy he brought along with him,” St. Cloud police said in a statement, “but instead is wearing handcuffs.”
The Osceola County School District banned him from all district properties immediately upon his arrest.

A judge set his bond at $5,000 – with conditions barring him from any contact with minors and prohibiting internet access if released.
Under Florida’s Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act, what Anthis is charged with carries 5 to 15 years in prison.
Florida Has Arrested Nearly 1,700 Predators Since 2025
This case didn’t happen in isolation.
Two months before Anthis walked into that parking lot, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced 58 arrests in a single five-day ICAC sting called “Operation Bad Habits” in Marion County – the largest such operation in the county’s history.
Undercover officers posed as children as young as seven years old in online chatrooms.
Every single defendant kept talking after being told the ages.
Every single one showed up.
“With nearly 1,700 predators arrested since I took office, we are just getting started,” Uthmeier said.
Florida isn’t the exception. In October 2025, Hillsborough County’s “Operation Unmasking Predators” netted 171 arrests in a single sweep – including a high school teacher – and rescued six trafficking victims.

The Union That Fights for Adults While Predators Target Your Kids
Here’s the part your school board doesn’t want to talk about.
Because so much of teaching is unionized, firing a teacher accused of misconduct – even with clear evidence – requires a legal battle that drains district resources and buries administrators in process.
Right now in Florida, the Brevard Federation of Teachers is spending member dues to fight the firing of a teacher who watched two students engage in a sex act and never reported it.
The union’s position: he deserves a fair hearing before any discipline.
The NEA – the nation’s largest teachers union, with millions of members – spent its 2025 convention passing resolutions against Trump, against parental rights, and against the Supreme Court ruling that let parents opt their children out of gender ideology in classrooms.
Protecting children from predators didn’t make the agenda.

Meanwhile, the NEA’s own handbook still instructs teachers to keep a student’s gender transition secret from parents – actively cutting mothers and fathers out of their own children’s lives while claiming to have kids’ best interests at heart.
Anthis had nine years of access to teenagers before detectives caught him targeting a child outside school – and police confirm no charges have emerged from inside Harmony High, though the investigation remains open.
The St. Cloud Police Chief’s message to parents was direct: “Please take an interest. It is so important, especially right now in this digital age, to please take notice of what your children are working on.”
That instinct is exactly right.
Because the people who are supposed to protect your children from predators – the unions, the administrators, the school boards – are too busy protecting each other.
