Florida just rescued 163 children – including a two-month-old baby – in five days.
CNN didn’t lead with it.
What Florida’s attorney general pulled off this week saving children would rewrite the record books.
Florida Built a Machine and Now It’s Running
This wasn’t luck.
Operation Statewide Shield was modeled on lessons from Operation Dragon Eye – the 2025 initiative that recovered 60 children and was called the most successful missing child operation in U.S. Marshals history at the time.
Then came Operation Home for the Holidays, which topped Dragon Eye with 122 recoveries.
Now Florida ran its own state-led version and blew both of them out of the water in five days.
Think about that progression: 60 children. Then 122. Now 163 – and that’s in half the time, without federal leadership.

Florida didn’t inherit a playbook and coast on it.
They took the federal model, stripped it down, rebuilt it under state authority, and scaled it faster than anyone thought possible.
FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass put it simply: “There’s more to be saved.”
These Children Were Everywhere
Not just Florida.
The 163 recoveries spanned six states, Puerto Rico, and 12 countries outside the continental United States.
They found a two-month-old.
Someone trafficked or lost an infant, and Florida’s law enforcement was the one to find them – coordinating across international channels to bring that child home.
The regional breakdown: 46 children recovered through Tampa Bay, 41 through Miami, 32 through Jacksonville, 21 through Orlando, 12 through Fort Myers, eight through Pensacola, and three through Tallahassee.
“Today, we announced the rescue and recovery of 163 missing children as part of the largest operation of its kind in state history,” Uthmeier announced on X. “Florida will continue leading the recovery of missing children, hunting down predators, and prosecuting abusers to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Numbers Behind the Operation
James Uthmeier has arrested more than 2,000 people accused of crimes against children since taking office and recovered more than 400 missing children through law enforcement efforts in that same period.

Since February 2025, his office has logged over 1,600 human trafficking and exploitation-related arrests – with convicted predators receiving a combined 3,275 years in prison.
Active human trafficking cases are up 28%.
Total charges filed are up 54% compared to 2024.
This is what it looks like when a state attorney general actually goes to work.
State Rep. Danny Alvarez said what everyone in that room was thinking.
“We found 163 kids. That’s phenomenal. You know what I say? That’s not enough. Because today there’s another 163 that are begging for you to find them.”
Alvarez added a message for anyone preying on children in Florida: “We will never tolerate this. We will never accept it, and we will find you. You will die tired.”
What Democrats Won’t Explain
Democrats want to talk about “root causes.”

That’s the difference between two approaches to governing: one delivers speeches, the other delivers results.
Uthmeier drew the line clearly: “Florida will never be a haven for those that want to prey on our kids. If you come here and you do harm, you will pay for it.”
That’s not a press release.
That’s a record – 2,000 arrests, 163 kids home in five days, and a blueprint every red-state governor should be copying right now.
