The corporate-controlled media tried to kneecap a Trump-backed candidate five weeks before Election Day.
Now Trump went on Truth Social and named every outlet that ran the smear.
And Donald Trump threatened to pull their White House press credentials after reporters from nine media outlets fabricated a story about Byron Donalds.
The Story They Made Up
Reporters at the Miami Herald noticed that Byron Donalds' campaign had updated its website after the August primary.
Gone was the "ENDORSED BY PRESIDENT TRUMP!" banner.
Gone was the yellow ribbon, the "RUN, BYRON, RUN!" quote, and the photo of Donalds and his wife with the president.
The campaign explained it plainly: the general election is about Florida voters, not the primary.
Insurance costs, property taxes, government transparency.

That's what the redesign was about.
It didn't matter.
USA Today, CNN, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Newsweek, The New York Times, ABC, NBC and Forbes ran with the narrative anyway – Trump and Donalds were splitting.
The endorsement was over.
The relationship was done.
Every word of it was fabricated.
Trump went to Truth Social and called it out directly: "This was a Fake Story, with no sources."
He reaffirmed the endorsement in the same post: "Byron Donalds has my Complete and Total Endorsement."
Donalds dismissed the coverage as "a stupid story" at a Miami Beach event Saturday.
This Is What Election Season Looks Like Now
This isn't the first time the corporate press has tried to manufacture a Republican-Trump split during an election cycle.
The playbook is simple.
Find a minor campaign update – a website refresh, a schedule change, a strategically worded statement – and frame it as a sign of distance from Trump.
Then publish and watch other outlets amplify.
The goal isn't to report news.
The goal is to suppress Republican turnout by convincing MAGA voters their candidate has already abandoned them.
It failed this time because Donalds didn't panic and Trump didn't waver.
"Corrupt Media Outlets should not be allowed to enter the White House premises, or Press Room," Trump wrote.
Donalds went on offense. He welcomed the news that Vice President JD Vance would rally in Lakeland on October 1 on his behalf and confirmed Trump will personally campaign in Florida, with two rallies already scheduled.
"We are going to KEEP FLORIDA RED!" he wrote.
What's Actually at Stake in Florida
David Jolly – the man Donalds is running against – is a former Republican congressman who switched parties to run as a Democrat.
That's not a political evolution.
That's a career move.
Jolly is running on affordability, gun control, and healthcare talking points that would fit right in on MSNBC.
Since entering the race, he has raised roughly $1 million through his political committee and campaign account.
In a single quarter earlier this year, Donalds raised $22 million – more than any non-incumbent gubernatorial candidate in Florida history in the first quarter of an election year.
Republicans hold 20 of Florida's 28 congressional seats, both Senate seats, the governor's mansion, the full cabinet, and supermajorities in both chambers of the state legislature.
Trump has carried the state three times and said Saturday his numbers there are stronger now than they were on Election Day.
Jolly's path to winning requires a collapse – either Donalds' campaign imploding, Trump distancing himself, or MAGA voters staying home.
The press tried to manufacture all three with one website story, got humiliated in real time, and now has to watch the candidate they tried to bury welcome the president onto his stage.
Nine outlets ran a story with no sources and got their names put on a list by the President of the United States.
They deserve every word of it.
