A Florida Sheriff Warned Anyone Hiding Murder Suspect Isabelle Johnson Will Face Charges

Jul 16, 2026

Isabelle Johnson allegedly killed a man, buried him in a shallow grave, and then let five people run cover while she disappeared.

Now every single one of them is going to prison.

And if you think you know where she is and haven't called – the sheriff just made that your problem too.

Five Accomplices Down and One Killer Still Running

Jason Christopher Coulthart was 43 years old when he vanished from Niceville, Florida on May 24.

He walked out of the College Condominiums on East College Boulevard and was never seen alive again.

Investigators developed information pointing them to a property off Sunset Lane in Freeport – and on June 25, they found him buried in a shallow grave.

DNA confirmed the identity of the remains on July 9.

The arrest warrant for Isabelle Johnson, 38, had already been issued nearly two weeks earlier.

She was gone.

A Network Built to Keep a Murderer Free

The first arrests came fast: Martin and Sandra Leaverton, both 63, of Fort Walton Beach were booked on July 1 for accessory after the fact to capital murder.

Deputies say the couple packed up Johnson's belongings, put a cell phone in her hand, and worked to secure her a safe house out of state.

Bobbi Wagstaff, 31 – of the same Sunset Lane address where Coulthart's body was found – was also arrested, charged with accessory to capital murder after the fact and possession of methamphetamine.

Then came Michael Ray White, 74, of Santa Rosa Beach.

White denied knowing Johnson when investigators first questioned him.

He later admitted she had been staying at his home from June 25 through June 30 – the same week deputies were hunting for her.

White also sheltered Martin Leaverton alongside Johnson, kept both of them supplied, and arranged to move Johnson to a second location when the heat got close.

Kathleen Morris, 59, lived at the same Santa Rosa Beach address.

She admitted to driving Johnson around, keeping her stocked with supplies, and telling deputies Johnson had never been there.

Text messages pulled from Morris's phone confirmed her account was a lie.

What Harboring a Murderer Actually Costs You in Florida

This isn't just a moral question.

Under Florida law, helping a capital felony suspect evade capture is a first-degree felony carrying up to 30 years in prison.

That is not a slap on the wrist for being a loyal friend.

That is the rest of your life, or close to it.

Sheriff Adkinson made the stakes crystal clear: "If you give her a place to stay, help her hide, or lie for her, you will face consequences. This is a homicide case. We will not allow anyone to get in the way of this investigation."

Five people are learning that lesson from inside the Walton County Jail.

She's Still Out There and She's Good at Hiding

Johnson is 5-foot-3, 120 pounds, brown hair, hazel eyes – and she has been running under fake names for years.

She's gone by Harley, Jessica Elaine Bowman, Jessica Elaine Thrush, and Jessica Dowdy, among others.

Surveillance video caught her inside a Destin business days after Coulthart's body was found.

She may have changed her appearance since.

The Leavertons were actively trying to move her across state lines before deputies caught up with them – which means she could be anywhere right now.

If you have seen her or know where she is, call the Walton County Sheriff's Office at 850-892-8111 or reach Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS.

A cash reward may be available.

Sheriff Adkinson has been clear: the arrests aren't finished.
