The Woman Who Wants Your Money But Won't Pay Her Own
Angie Nixon is running for Marco Rubio's old Senate seat in Florida.
She's a card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America – the first DSA candidate to win a Democrat Senate primary in the entire country this cycle.
Her platform?
Tax the billionaires.
Medicare for All.
Free childcare.
A nationwide rent freeze.
Her personal finances?

Nearly $14,000 in unpaid IRS taxes and $17,609.28 in unpaid federal student loans.
Let that picture come into focus.
This is a woman pulling down at least $270,000 a year – from her state rep salary, rental income on one of her two properties, consulting fees from a Miami firm, and her director's salary from a nonprofit voter mobilization group.
That income is more than five times what the average American worker earns.
And she can't find the money to pay the IRS.
She also racked up state tax warrants from the Florida Department of Revenue on her personal company, Moxie LLC, for unpaid sales taxes.
Those got paid back eventually.
The IRS bill is still running.
What She Actually Said About It
Here's where this stops being a financial story and becomes something else entirely.
Nixon didn't hide this.
She bragged about it.
On a podcast in July, she complained that corporations don't pay income taxes – and then in the same breath admitted she's on a payment plan to pay the IRS $12,000 back.
"And listen, I ain't made $105 billion, but you making me pay $12,000 to the feds? Like, really? That's what we're doing?" she told the host.
She's on a payment plan for taxes she owes on income that puts her in the top five percent of all American earners – and she's framing it as oppression.
The student loans are even more brazen.
When the pandemic-era moratorium on student loan payments ended in 2023, Nixon went on Facebook to announce she had no plans to pay.
"Dear Student Loans. It's above me now," she wrote. "I don't wanna pay it back. Education supposed to be free."

When someone pointed out she might qualify for forgiveness, she clarified she wasn't trying to qualify – she was just being petty.
"It's only $16K. I'm being petty. I didn't pay long enough for forgiveness," she said.
She graduated from the University of Florida in 2007, when in-state tuition ran about $3,200 a year.
She has had nearly two decades to pay this back.
She chose not to.

Bernie Sanders – a millionaire with three houses who spent years railing against millionaires – declared Nixon's primary win "the future of the Democratic Party."
He's right.
She is the future of the Democrat Party.
That's the whole point.
This is not a story about one broke politician who got in over her head.
Nixon has $270,000 in documented personal income – plus whatever her husband makes running a car repair business, which she wasn't required to disclose.
She owns two properties.
She runs a consulting firm on the side.
She is not struggling.
She is choosing.

When socialists demand that billionaires pay their "fair share," they never mean themselves – even when they are the wealthy ones.
Nixon wants to institute a five percent annual wealth tax on billionaires while sitting on $32,000 in personal tax and student loan debt she has made clear she has no interest in paying.
This is not hypocrisy by accident.
This is the operating philosophy of the movement.
Sanders did it with three houses and tax breaks he publicly opposed.
Nixon is doing it with an IRS payment plan and a Facebook post telling her student loan servicer it's "above her now."
Florida voters get a clear choice in November: Ashley Moody, backed by President Trump and endorsed by DeSantis, or a DSA socialist who owes $32,000 to the federal government and considers that someone else's problem.
