A TSA agent shocked airport security by attacking one elderly passenger in a way that left everyone stunned

Jun 18, 2025

Air travel has become increasingly stressful for passengers navigating security checkpoints.

But one incident at a Florida airport crossed every line of decency.

And a TSA agent shocked airport security by attacking one elderly passenger in a way that left everyone stunned.

TSA agent attacks 79-year-old woman at Fort Lauderdale airport

Transportation Security Administration agent Janiyah Wilson-Robinson thought she could get away with pushing around a vulnerable senior citizen.

The 21-year-old TSA employee from Margate, Florida was arrested Wednesday after she "forcefully pushed" a 79-year-old woman at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The elderly victim from Palm Beach Gardens was traveling on a JetBlue Airways flight that day when Wilson-Robinson decided to assault her.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Wilson-Robinson placed her palms on the senior citizen and shoved her with enough force to knock her to the ground.

The 79-year-old woman hit her forehead when she fell, suffering minor bruising from the unprovoked attack.

Medical personnel at the airport provided the victim with an ice pack, but she declined to be transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The arrest report doesn’t specify what triggered Wilson-Robinson’s violent outburst against the elderly passenger.

Wilson-Robinson spent Wednesday night locked up at the North Broward Bureau detention facility before being released Thursday on a $1,000 bond.

TSA agent refuses to explain her actions

Local 10 News reporter Terrell Forney was waiting when Wilson-Robinson was picked up from jail Thursday night.

He asked the TSA agent direct questions about the incident.

"Did she fall or did you push her?" Forney asked Wilson-Robinson as she walked to a waiting car.

"Anything you wanted to say to her or her family?" he continued.

Wilson-Robinson refused to respond to any questions about why she attacked a 79-year-old woman.

Her silence speaks volumes about her lack of remorse for assaulting a vulnerable senior citizen.

The TSA agent was charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 or older, a serious felony in Florida.

This charge recognizes that attacking elderly individuals is particularly heinous because of their vulnerability.

TSA responds to employee’s shocking behavior

The Transportation Security Administration was forced to address Wilson-Robinson’s unacceptable conduct after her arrest made headlines.

"TSA holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and we do not tolerate behavior that violates these standards or the public’s trust," a TSA spokesperson said in a statement.

The agency placed Wilson-Robinson on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

"We are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities in their investigation," the spokesperson added.

But this incident raises serious questions about TSA hiring practices and employee screening.

How did Wilson-Robinson pass the background checks and training required for a security position?

TSA agents are entrusted with the safety and security of millions of air travelers every year.

The fact that a 21-year-old TSA employee thought it was acceptable to physically assault a 79-year-old passenger is deeply disturbing.

Airport violence becoming more common

Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated incident at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The same airport has been the scene of other violent confrontations in recent years.

Previous incidents have included fights between passengers and confrontations over mask mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air travel stress has reached a boiling point, but that’s no excuse for TSA employees to take out their frustrations on innocent passengers.

TSA agents are supposed to be professionals who help ensure safe air travel for everyone.

Instead, Wilson-Robinson turned her position of authority into an opportunity to bully a vulnerable elderly woman.

The 79-year-old victim was simply trying to catch her flight to California when she was attacked by someone who was supposed to help her navigate airport security.

This shocking incident highlights the need for better training and oversight of TSA employees.

Passengers shouldn’t have to worry about being assaulted by the very people who are supposed to protect them.

Wilson-Robinson’s actions were inexcusable and she deserves to face the full consequences of her violent behavior.

The elderly victim and her family deserve justice for this unprovoked attack.

Hopefully, this incident will serve as a wake-up call for the TSA to take a closer look at their hiring and training practices.

Air travelers have enough stress without worrying about being attacked by TSA agents.
