Three innocent people are dead because an illegal alien couldn't read a single road sign.
Now Florida is making sure it never happens again — and the Democrats calling it "racism" just exposed exactly who they're really fighting for.
And Byron Donalds just dropped one chilling fact about an illegal alien truck driver that left Nikki Fried speechless.
Three Dead, One Sign He Couldn't Read
The facts of the Harjinder Singh case should make every American's blood boil.
On August 12, 2025, Singh — an illegal alien from India who crossed the southern border in 2018 — was behind the wheel of a commercial semi-truck on the Florida Turnpike near Fort Pierce.
He made an illegal U-turn through a lane marked "Official Use Only."
His truck jackknifed across all northbound lanes.
A minivan carrying Herby Dufresne, Rodrigue Dor, and Faniloa Joseph slammed into the side of the trailer.
All three were killed.
Here's what makes this story truly infuriating: federal investigators later determined Singh could answer only 2 of 12 verbal questions on his English language proficiency assessment, and correctly identified just 1 of 4 highway traffic signs.¹

He had also failed his commercial driver's license knowledge exam in Washington state 10 times in less than two months.²
And yet California handed him a CDL anyway.
Gavin Newsom's state gave a man who couldn't read American road signs the keys to a 40-ton killing machine — and sent him driving across the country.
DeSantis and Donalds Slam the Door Shut
Florida's response was swift and unambiguous.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles announced on January 30, 2026, that beginning February 6, all driver's license knowledge and skills exams would be administered in English only, with no translation services of any kind permitted.³
Governor Ron DeSantis didn't mince words when he posted on X: "Good reform by FLHSMV to require driver exams be conducted only in English. Need to be able to read the road signs!"

Byron Donalds, the Trump-endorsed candidate for Florida governor, went on Varney & Co. and made the case even more directly.
"What happened last year on our roads, where you had somebody who couldn't read our signs lead to the death of three people on the roads of Florida is, frankly, chilling," the Naples Republican said.⁴ "To know that we have these various driving tests to get a license, but you don't have to read English when all our road signs are in English, I think that creates a major problem."
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy piled on from Washington, D.C.: "Hats off to Florida. This is common sense to keep the American people SAFE! Whether you're driving a sedan or a big rig, you need to be able to read the rules of the road and communicate with law enforcement."

Fried's "Racism" Charge Tells You Everything
And then there's Nikki Fried.
The Florida Democrat Party chair looked at three dead Americans and concluded the real problem is Florida's English testing requirement.
"This is not about safety, this is about racism," Fried declared.
She called it a discriminatory attack on Florida's immigrant community, describing residents as being treated like "disposable people."
Nobody forced Harjinder Singh to get behind the wheel of a commercial truck when he couldn't identify a highway traffic sign.
Nobody forced California to hand a CDL to a man who failed his licensing exam 10 times.
And nobody is "disposing" of anyone by requiring that a person who drives on American roads — roads marked entirely in English, patrolled by English-speaking officers — be able to read and respond to what those roads are telling them.
That isn't racism.
That's the most basic minimum standard imaginable for anyone behind the wheel of a vehicle on American roads.
Florida Just Sent a Message Every State Should Hear
Here's what Democrats don't want to admit: the Harjinder Singh case isn't an isolated tragedy — and Florida isn't the only state acting.
Secretary Duffy issued federal guidelines in May 2025 strengthening English proficiency requirements for commercial truckers nationwide, putting non-compliant drivers out of service on the spot.
Florida has also sued California and Washington in federal court over their policies of issuing CDLs to illegal immigrants in violation of federal law.

And Florida joined Wyoming, Oklahoma, and other states that already required English-only driving exams — a trend that's only going to grow.
This is a national reckoning — and it's long overdue.
The left-wing position is that requiring someone to read a road sign before they're handed a driver's license is an act of bigotry.
Florida's position is that Herby Dufresne, Rodrigue Dor, and Faniloa Joseph deserved to make it home that day.
Only one of those positions makes any sense.
