Byron Donalds Shut Down a CBS Host Who Tried to Use a Measles Outbreak Against Him

Aug 25, 2026

Joe Biden opened the border to 10 million unvetted illegal aliens.

Now Florida has more than 150 confirmed measles cases and CBS wants to blame your kids.

Byron Donalds revealed one fact about Joe Biden’s open border policies that sent Margaret Brennan into a fit of rage.

Donalds Puts Brennan on Defense Live on CBS

The ambush was obvious from the first question.

Brennan opened Sunday's Face the Nation by informing Donalds – Florida's Republican nominee for governor – that nearly every county in the state sits below the 95% vaccination threshold for measles herd immunity.

Her implied conclusion: parents aren't vaccinating their kids, and Donalds owns it.

Donalds didn't take the bait.

He told Brennan the real reason Americans are seeing measles outbreaks isn't vaccine hesitancy – it's Biden's four years of open-border chaos that dumped more than 10 million unvetted people into the country with no vaccination history on file.

"Margaret, before Joe Biden went into office, when our borders were basically secure —" Donalds started.

Brennan cut him off: "What evidence do you have of that?"

Donalds answered directly.

He named El Paso, Texas.

He named southwest Florida – his own congressional district.

He named the pattern: communities where illegal immigration spiked, where newcomers arrived without documentation of any kind, where measles – a disease America declared eliminated in 2000 – suddenly reappeared.

The CDC itself documented a measles outbreak at a Chicago migrant shelter during Biden's term, where 57 people were infected – most of them unvaccinated migrants from Venezuela, a country whose routine childhood vaccination rate collapsed from 96% to 68% in just four years.

Biden's DHS released 4.3 million people into the United States between 2021 and 2024 while conducting no systematic vaccination screening.

That's not a theory.

That's the Department of Homeland Security's own data.

What the Media Won't Tell You About Florida's Outbreak

Florida's measles numbers look bad in isolation.

Context makes them devastating for the Left's narrative.

The state's Ave Maria University outbreak – the largest at any American college in modern history – infected more than 50 students in Collier County.

The same southwest Florida Donalds specifically named on camera.

Nationwide, the story repeats: 93% of 2026 measles cases involve people who were unvaccinated or whose status is unknown.

That's not the fingerprint of American parents refusing shots.

That's what you get when millions of people with unknown medical histories walk into the country and integrate into communities that rely on herd immunity to protect infants, cancer patients, and anyone who can't receive live vaccines.

Florida's kindergarten vaccination rate sits at 88.8% – the drop tracked almost perfectly to COVID-era disruptions and the subsequent collapse in trust toward public health institutions that told Americans for two years that masks worked, lockdowns worked, and natural immunity didn't count.

Biden's policies triggered that trust collapse.

Biden's open border finished the job.

The Question Brennan Never Asked

Brennan spent the interview trying to put Donalds on defense about Florida's vaccination numbers.

She never asked why the federal government failed to screen millions of border crossers for basic vaccine-preventable diseases.

She never asked whether a president who released people into American communities without medical documentation bore any responsibility for what came next.

She never asked why Chicago migrant shelters – operating under Biden administration policy – became active measles transmission zones while CDC officials told Americans the issue had nothing to do with immigration.

The media will keep running this play: manufacture a crisis, hide the cause, blame the Republican who names it.

Donalds closed by making clear the distinction Brennan didn't want him to make.

He doesn't oppose vaccination.

He wants legal immigration with assimilation – which includes the vaccine schedule that every legal immigrant has been required to complete since long before Biden arrived.

Here's what comes next if nobody says it out loud.

School starts this week across Florida with an 88% vaccination rate and more than 150 confirmed measles cases on the books.

The CDC has already warned that the United States could lose its measles elimination status – a designation earned in 2000 that held for two decades.

When a kid in Collier County comes home with a fever and a rash this fall, the same media that spent Sunday blaming Florida parents will have another Republican to ambush.

Byron Donalds just made sure he's ready for that interview too.
