Donald Trump Spent 28 Days on the Road and Saved His Last Live Rally for Byron Donalds

Nov 3, 2026

Charlie Crist became a Democrat and lost Florida by 20 points.

Now another Republican-turned-Democrat wants to be governor – and Trump just burned his final rally night to stop it.

Donald Trump spent 28 days on the road and saved his last live rally for Byron Donalds.

Trump Draws 9,000 to Daytona With Four Days Left

Supporters started lining up at 4 a.m. for a 3:30 p.m. door opening at the Ocean Center.

The 9,300-seat arena filled with red hats and American flags as Trump capped what he admitted was a punishing stretch – 28 consecutive days of rallies – by giving Florida one final live performance.

"I thought this was going to be my last one, Byron," he said from the stage. "Twenty-eight days in a row of this crap is a lot."

He kept going anyway.

Trump's message was simple and he repeated it all night: don't get comfortable.

Florida's Republican registration advantage can disappear when complacent voters stay home.

"Bad things happen when you get too confident," Trump said. "Let's pretend they're one point down."

The warning matters because the polls show he's right.

The race has tightened since summer.

A University of North Florida survey put Donalds ahead by just two points. Florida voted for Trump by double digits two years ago.

Now Republicans are fighting to hold a state that should be over before it starts.

The reason: David Jolly.

The Fraud Running Against Florida's Future

Jolly was a Republican congressman from Pinellas County.

He lost his seat to Charlie Crist – a man who pulled the same party-switch trick, ran for governor as a Democrat, and got buried by Ron DeSantis in 2022.

Jolly is now asking Floridians to trust that this time it goes differently.

Donalds didn't let that slide.

"David Jolly is a fraud," he told the Daytona crowd. "He's a failed Republican and a Jolly-come-lately to the Democrat Party."

Donalds went after Jolly's Fauci-era positioning, his weakness on Cuba, and his willingness to let the left set his agenda.

On the trail this week, he put the Cuba question bluntly: "Anybody who can't remember if there is a dictatorship in Cuba does not deserve to be a United States Senator."

He was talking about Jolly's Senate running mate, Democrat Socialist Angie Nixon – who, at a Kissimmee rally the same weekend, watched her supporters cheer when she called herself radical.

Donalds Answered the Anti-Black Attack Without Blinking

Democrats have been running an "anti-black" line against Donalds, and at Daytona he addressed it straight on.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know if you know this… your next governor has been black his entire life," Donalds told the crowd. "But the color of my skin is not what qualifies me to be your governor. The vision for a free Florida – that is what qualifies me to be your next governor."

This is why Trump came back.

Not because he had to.

He had already planned to wind down the in-person schedule and shift to telephone rallies for the final stretch – canceling stops in Kansas and Iowa because his team said those states were safely Republican enough to not need the lift.

Florida got the last live rally because Donalds needed it, and because what's at stake Tuesday is bigger than one governor's race.

Florida Can't Afford to Blink Either

No Democrat has held the governor's office since Lawton Chiles won in 1994.

Republicans have controlled Florida government since 1999.

That run of conservative governance turned a purple swing state into the country's most business-friendly, most freedom-preserving, fastest-growing state in America.

DeSantis holds an 87 percent approval rating with Florida Republicans.

Donalds has pledged to build on that record – lower insurance costs, lower property taxes, a top-10 global economy, expanded commercial space launches, and continued protection of parental rights.

Jolly's pitch is that the "Free State of Florida is a lie."

That's not a policy platform.

That's a bumper sticker for people who are still angry DeSantis beat them.

Ashley Moody, running for Senate against Democratic Socialist Angie Nixon, put the stakes plainly Friday night: "There are stark differences between candidates on the ballot. We have an actual communist on the ballot."

Senator Rick Scott reminded the crowd why Trump keeps showing up: "The guy's been indicted. He's been shot. They tried to bankrupt him. They ransacked his house – and guess what? He's still standing."

Florida is where the left is making its most credible push to stop America First governance at the state level.

Florida is where Trump spent his last night of live rallying.

Tuesday is the answer.

Doors opened at 3:30 p.m.

People were in line at 4 a.m.

That's what fighting for Florida looks like.
