California just banned carrying a firearm near parks, playgrounds, and stadiums.
Ron DeSantis just stood at a Florida shooting range and announced the state's second consecutive tax-free hunting season – guns, ammo, and gear – with a running total headed for $100 million returned to law-abiding gun owners.

The Biggest Gun Tax Holiday in American History
The holiday runs September 1 through December 31 – four full months, right through deer season.
Every pistol, rifle, and shotgun sold in Florida is completely exempt from sales tax.
Ammunition too – no price caps, no limits on quantity, no government deciding how much you're allowed to buy.
Holsters, grips, sights, optics, stocks, and cleaning kits are all covered.

Bows, crossbows, and their accessories – arrows, bolts, quivers, releases – are in too.
Tents, sleeping bags, camping stoves, lanterns, fishing rods, reels, and tackle round out the list.
DeSantis made the announcement at the Tenoroc Shooting Range in Lakeland, where he also unveiled Florida's new Archery Center.
"Florida will suspend the collection of sales tax on firearms, ammunition, a wide range of hunting, fishing, and camping equipment," DeSantis said.
Florida's sales tax rate is six percent – and a quality hunting rifle runs $500 to $2,500, meaning up to $150 back in your pocket before you've touched the ammunition.
Florida Leads While Other States Settle for Weekends
South Carolina started a Second Amendment tax holiday back in 2008 – one weekend after Thanksgiving.
Louisiana has had one since 2009 – three days, then Democrats suspended it entirely in 2018 when they needed the money.
Mississippi runs a similar weekend program.
Florida's version doesn't just dwarf those programs – it makes them look like a rounding error.

State economists projected last year's inaugural holiday would save Floridians $44.8 million – the actual result came in at $50 million.
DeSantis is now projecting the two-year combined total will hit $100 million returned to Florida gun owners and sportsmen.
Chief Conservation Officer George Warthen put it plainly: "This tax holiday once again provides those families the opportunity to purchase equipment at a discounted rate, saving money on taxes, so that they continue to get outdoors and enjoy this beautiful state."
DeSantis also expanded this year's program – doubling the eligible price thresholds on fishing bait and tackle compared to last year.
While Florida Arms Up Gavin Newsom Disarms Down
While DeSantis was handing out tax relief at a shooting range, California expanded its "sensitive places" gun restrictions to ban carry near parks, playgrounds, and stadiums.
New York added background checks just to buy ammunition.
Illinois banned an entire class of commonly owned rifles.
These aren't fringe proposals – they're the mainstream Democrat position on your Second Amendment rights.

And while blue-state Democrats spend their energy making it harder, more expensive, and more legally dangerous to own a firearm, DeSantis is cutting the tax on every gun sold in Florida from now through New Year's Eve.
Alabama is already considering a similar bill.
Other conservative governors are watching.
DeSantis just proved the template works – and $100 million in real savings gives every Republican governor in America the argument they need to bring it home.
One party wants to tax your guns, restrict your ammunition, and ban your rifles.
The other just handed you four months of tax-free deer season.
